    Brexit, for once some facts.

I don't agree since we will still suffer from a half in / half out position. Companies hate that and won't invest here with the inherent uncertainties. That's why Nissan and Toyota have already suspended all investment here. So the foreign car companies will still gradually depart as they...

Yes I can see that, but can also see how deluded they are. Our improvement is tied to our EU membership, as they'll realise when the car companies start departing. The smaller elements of our EU membership benefit are already leaving. .

Tony at Woosh is a Leaver. Understandably he's been trying to produce arguments that things won't be too bad after leaving, making him a whole lot better than most Leave voters who only chant "We won, you lost" as if that excuses their position. But of course he can't avoid the fact that...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Deluded nonsense. The UK was in a continuous decline from the end of WW2 to the 1970s when, having lost our key industries and much of our commerce, we were going broke and had to be rescued by the IMF managing our economy in that decade. Since then under the EEC and EU we've regrown industry...

    Cleaning and detailing

In the early 1970s I did this once with a company car due for return to the leasing car dealer, even the bumpers off. When the lease company driver turned up with the replacement car and checked the return one over, he came in to me to apologise that the new car wasn't as clean! Later they...

If the Skipton Tourist Information Centre is to be believed, surely solar panels on the roofs of the buses should easily power them in all that sunshine? .

Yes that was Alec Douglas-Home, quite aged with time. I can see what you mean about the resemblance to Martin McGuiness, a slightly slimmer version. Hopefully mentioning him won't make Tommie foam at the mouth, shouting Never, Never, Never in true Ian Paisley style. ;) .

I wondered if anyone would remark on the two amusing aspects of the photo I posted, but no-one has. So I'm repeating it below to show these. Margaret Thatcher and David Steel have immaculately circular wreaths but Michael Foot in his donkey jacket has one that looks as though it's met with an...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The trouble is that the people have made an uninformed choice having been unwisely given that chance. The only way chance of undoing that damage now is a repeat of the same referendum, held in the light of the people's greater knowledge now of the consequences. That would probably take us back...

The problem with E-bikes in the UK.

In my earlier driving life I've twice through negligence run out of petrol on the road. The first time it happened, the engine spluttered and a glance at the gauge showed the cause and I was able to turn the wheel and glide into the adjacent petrol station and stop at a vacant pump. Incredible...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Absolutely not, that's manipulating the result to split the Remain vote. The choice has to be binary on the proposed deal, Leave or Remain like last time. .

It depends on the types of charger though. Many are slow chargers, taking 8 to 12 hours for a full charge, depending on battery size. It will be 20 hours on next years larger batteries. So having one 20 minutes drive away might not be any use if it's a slow one and you have to find somewhere...

What use are hybrid vehicles really?

It's not quite as straightforward as it might seem. Take the Toyota Prius for example. To really be a good performer it really needs either a two litre engine or a high performing 1.5 litre. But instead it uses a modified Atkinson cycle 1.5 litre engine so is underpowered for more challenging...
