    Brexit, for once some facts.

I go, and it is done; the bell invites me. Hear it not, Duncan, for it is a knell That summons thee to heaven or to hell.

    Yamaha 05GEN concept

My Aprilla Leonardo came with a high screen. After almost sufocating to death the first sunny say I swapped it for the lower "sport" screen which protected just as well from the rain and when stopped at the lights let enough air around so that I could breathe...

    Yamaha 05GEN concept

They don't have potholes in Japan? Where do I put my shopping? So back to the drawing board with bigger wheels on the front and a place to hang a big shopping bag so move the front light up onto the windsheild. http://www.noomadbike.com/

How long should my ebike chain last?

Related to chain wear: How many cogs can one shift up or down smoothly? I am thinking about building a mid-drive specific cassette - would 5 teeth be asking too much? 11-16-21-24-28-31-34 for example with the big jumps being changing up downhill. Gears most used on the flat will be 5th and...

    Xiaomi ebike £307

There is a design that works, from China! I knew i would be saying that one day but so soon... I like their treatment of lights in the ends of the top tube, not original but well executed. 8 kg makes it an ideal city bike for the final mile between the train and the office.

When is best to charge battery

<bad joke mode> When you aren't riding... </bad joke> What is important with modern lithium is to not leave your battery empty or fully charged for a long time without use. The best is to go to university, http://batteryuniversity.com/ that is. All the sensible answers are there. Charge every...

    Battery Box Interfering with Pedals

Quite frankly I don't know how fast my hub motor goes on the flat, I do know what flat is I have a little bit around here but nothing that will let me get up to speed, it is all in town... A 250 W motor goes about 20 mph on 36 V and about 27 mph at 48 V without user input. These numbers have...

    Battery Box Interfering with Pedals

"B-grade packs are sold as is and no warranty is implied or given" That about sums it up. Don't try saving on batteries, it isn't the same as using used chip oil to fuel a diesel car! Lipos can be dangerous, choosing sub-standard ones is increasing your chances of having a problem while...

    Battery Box Interfering with Pedals

Feelings: not good - too heavy for starters and performance wise nowhere near lithium. You should make your battery box 110 mm wide you have plenty of room for wires in the drawing. These are fully sealed gel batteries with no acid inside? Because otherwise you have two that will leak. How do...

    Update: - mid motor install

    1. Don't be so touchy! We are all in this together 2. I wasn't aware you had an 8 speed My personal opinion is that if you have clearance issues the frame isn't ideal. There are factory built 11 speed mid-drive pedelecs so you really should be able to have 8 gears. Personally I couldn't...

    Update: - mid motor install

Sounds like a case of wrong frame for the BBS to me. The advantage of having a BBS is that you can chose another frame which works better and mount your kit to that instead. Then you would have the correct chainline and the gears you need.

Clacking noise - Kalkhoff Impulse 2 motor

The Impulse motor does not have good press. There have been issues with Bosch software and many don't like the small chainwheel. Other than hot rodders frying controllers and stripping nylon gears (user serviceable) Bafang doesn't have many complaints either. No one ever complains about Yamaha...

    I love Sheldon Brown...

Metaphorically speaking of course! I found this gem when looking for gearing options: Some Shimano flat steel sprockets and spacers are in bolted or riveted assemblies, indicated by tooth counts in italics in the table below. The bolts or rivets only serve to keep sprockets and spacers in...

    Display compatibility

Or you whip out your multimeter and you rewire the connectors. There are several threads over on Endles Sphere about mix and match LCD/controller woes with schemas of wire color equivalents. Easy way is find a controller compatible with your LCD.

    Changing a broken spoke

Sounds like you are re-inventing the spoke Mike... :D You didn't put freewheel in the above list of things to remove so lucky you! It was the front wheel.

    Number Two

Thanks! Just got back from a ride to Irun and back (about 30km) and learnt a lot. Average speed: 26.31 km/h and the maximum only 55.63 but that is sitting up and it didn't feel very fast with the big wheels. All this is to be taken with a grain of salt because the GPS I don't really trust under...
