Five MY17 e-MTBs (probably just the start)

Shame they call off-road bikes e-MTBs... I ride up mountains on my trekking bike... o_O and Tour de France riders ride up mountains on road bikes. I have even crossed a lady on a mountain on a folder!!! Does that make them e-MTBs too? :p

Vertical battery and bottle on down tube: why is it uncommon?

Now that I have a comfortable bike I am back to thinking long range travels again. The trailer seems to be the perfect place for range extender batteries. Yes there is some loss due to wire length but it keeps the weight off the bike which remains more mangeable. Hydraulic brakes required all...

    Dolphin 48v 11.6Ah charging time ?

That won't happen with a BMS. You can leave your charger plugged in to balance the pack. If you go to endless sphere you might find a charger nerd or two who watch each and every cell. You would need a charger that plugs into the balance leads of the BMS. Taking the shell off the Dolphin...

    Dolphin 48v 11.6Ah charging time ?

11.6/2 = 5.8 hours factor in a bit of loss say just over 6 hours from completely empty Damit! D8ve beat me to it...

woosh/kudos tcm vs bpm against standard 8fun hub query

That quarter turn is controller dependent. My GSM is instant i.e. les than 1/8th of a turn, more like 1/16th. I am using the 09 bottle battery external controller (which has its own issues...). Run on when I stop pedaling isn't so evident as the motor kicking in at the slightest pedal movement...

    Battery pack cell balancing

I think that if you leave the charger on overnight it should do the trick. If you still have unbalance after 12 hours then you may need to take more drastic measures. My bottle battery has gone out of balance once in a year. I knew because instead of getting 60-70 km range I only got 40 in...

    GSM 250w any advice

Just for laughs my four wire PAS kicks in if the pedals go forward OR backwards. This is a controller/LCD3 issue nothing to do with the motor itself. It is surprising the first couple of times... Each time I ride this bike I am loving it more! Today I had a full charge so very sprightly...

    Newbie looking for Veterans' advice!

Slower on the flat yes, but faster downhill because of the extra 6 kg you are carrying on the bike. With the 28" wheels I now leave roadies in the dust downhill, they are only faster than me on the flat now and there isn't a lot of flat around...

    Newbie looking for Veterans' advice!

I second the conversion of the Scott. Big Ben or Big Apple are a good choice of tyres. 26" wheels? What is the gearing on it? Brakes? I have moved from hub to mid-drive and am quite relaxed now because the bike is the right size for me. :D

    Anyone ever heard of these?

We were in S. Sebastian earlier and there was a couple stopped at a bike shop getting a derailleur adjusted. They had his and hers trekking Bulls with GoSwiss Drive hub motors. No longer in the catalogue from what I can see. Very nice looking piece of kit!

Newbie about to buy an electric bike

Top Tip: For your shopping get a trailer for your bike The lighter the host bike the lighter the resulting pedelec. I would say I could build probably 2 kg lighter than a Khalkoff. Don't get me wrong I have seen one up close and they do look quite nice but I would rather build my own with the...

Throttle, Crank Drive or Off Road?

When I was studying Industrial Design in the colonies the final year at the Royal College of Art in London was the goal to achieve. There were great British Designers back then. I have to agree with you about the design of British pedelecs... They almost look as bad as the Chinese ones. Oh wait...

Price increases, has anyone come across any since Friday?

For me there is no problem I buy most of my stuff in Euros. I just got a commission on a sale in GBP that isn't going to look so good when I put it on my $ paypal account. The last time I paid for something in GBP was the GSM I bought from Woosh. EDIT Ouch! What have you done? I don't want to...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I really don't get you lot. Your farmers brought in Poles to do jobs that English unemployed didn't want to do and paid them peanuts while they were about it. The Poles living in sub-standard conditions (or at least the ones I saw on TV) sent money and word back to Poland that there were jobs...

Price increases, has anyone come across any since Friday?

If you don't have a job a pedelec is the ideal means of transportation, how are you going to pay for a car, expensive petrol etc? If you get cold because you can't pay for heating any more you can always go out for a ride to warm yourself up...
