Is £800 enough money to spend on an everyday ride to work bike.

Last week I saw a 99 € bike at the supermarket. Put a decent pair of tyres and brakes on it and you have almost doubled the price!

Nexus inter 8 hub actually has better press than the Alfine version. And I am still scratching my head over the quality jump between HS11 and HS33 brakes the HS11 is so good why pay more for the HS33. Tyres and wheels are where the Chinese bikes fall down badly. My experience is with Decathlon...

    Childrens Pedlec

Belgium seems to be on the way to nanny state too with threats that this spring pedelecs will be forbidden for the under 16s... I don't know if that law passed or not.

I hear you but am an old enough boater to remember when the production of stainless steel boating equipment moved from Europe to China. Who wasn't tempted by the low cost bits and bobs that arrived on the market? Catamarans are very demanding and you chew through quite a bit of gear in a season...

Anyone from the boating world will tell you there is stainless steel then there is Chinese stainless steel... I added two tyres and tubes, a rack, mirror, Axa frame lock, ergotec pedals, SKS mudguards, b+m battery lights, Magura hydraulic rim brake front, ergonomic grips and a Velo seat to my 0...

I had the chance to see 2 different made in China supermarket bikes this week, here i the unofficial French market summary: - Carrefour, Spain has a 685 € bike with mudguards and a rack with a huge behind the seat post SLA battery - Leclerc, France has a 795 € hybrid I guess you call them with...

Cyclists soon more important than car drivers

Chicken and egg situation: air pollution is driving off the roads, more cars = more air pollution. With my lungs I would probably die within a week in some Chinese cities...

    A little confused!

You can keep your brakes and either find a "hidden wire brake switch" or buy a "horn" button that you will use as a motor cut off switch as I have done for my futur GSM build or take the switch out of the brake levers that come with the kit and adapt to your brake levers. Lots of DIY fun ahead! :D

    A-Bike Electric *finally* arrived!

No helmet and on the footpath, isn't that illegal for a L1e-B street legal electric scooter? Up to 30 km without pedalling on a single charge = 30 km downhill with the wind in your back (you weighing 55 kg soaking wet)...

Wiring in a thumb throttle. Help ?

Controller = metal box where the wires from the LEDs on your handlebars go to. Throttle = throttle you have ordered On the handlebars you either have a LED system like you with settings buttons and LEDs for status or an LCD with buttons for settings the status being shown on the LCD screen. A...

    A little confused!

I think the internal controller is being/has been reprogrammed to work without throttle. If you buy the GSM without internal controller it will work without throttle. You will need an 18 A controller and an external speed sensor.

How on earth does he get away with this?

During the summer I guess that I am exposed to the same kind of trafic conditions as you are - wall to wall trafic jams. In the sake of public health ask them what they think about s-pedelecs then? They are approved in several major EU countries and not in the UK - that last bit should please...
