    Waiting for my Bafang BBS01

You can keep the brake lever the 3 speed shifter will not be connected that is all. Keep your front derailleur as a chain guide. Yes stronger chain. And be gentle when changing gears. Yes chain ring should be kept in most cases. Probably the chain might need adjustment Nope the crank arms...

    Vive la France!

Several days ago two days in a row bits of space junk fell on populated areas of Spain. No secure border up there either! Life is a risky business and always, 100% guaranteed, ends in death. I would prefer conking out on my bike or boat rather than under a hail of Kalashnikoff lead, but as they...

    Smart ebike out of production?

Is he still waffling on? The first few posts I found so boorish by a person so up themselves that I clicked on the "ignore member" button. Seems much like one of those characters from early Monty Python shows but in real life, yikes...

Why does a Pedelec cut out at 15.5mph?

After my first couple of rides around town with my new "gearbox" I have noticed that I no longer feel the cut-out. That kind of on again off again sensation where you are constantly just around 25 kph. One of the reasons is that with the 48 tooth up front I am now regularly at +26 kph on the...

18650 battery box for front light

I just went out and bought a B+M headlight. Seeing how much a Cree + battery pack + gadget du jour cost when all added up I think I got a good deal for a light that lights up the road enough so that oncoming cars dip their lights before they see me... :D

    Throttle to Pedelec Conversion

Having just spent some quality time this afternoon with a crowbar and a very large hammer removing a crankset for which there is no known tool available I beg to disagree sir! :p I finally swapped out my crappy Decathlon crankset with plastic coated cranks for the Shimano Acera from my other...

Will the end of full speed throttles in January 2016 cause a rush to buy.

I'm going to have to get mine out of the box and try the damned thing. Now that the police are all busy controlling the frontier they don't have the time to control a chap on a bike whizzing by without pedalling.

    Vive la France!

Was warned last week that crossing the frontier was going to be a lot longer. Last weekend there was already a huge line of cars which doesn't bother me (I am on a pedelec...). When catching the train I will just change stations i.e. pedal across the border and catch it on the other side. As for...

The keyword is "Unfortunately" the journalist didn't come to the logical conclusion you and I came to sounded surprised that normal bike sales were down. I didn't express myself clearly enough, sorry

If you stick on the required label and write up and sign a certificate of conformity with yourself as the constructor you fall under EN15194. 1. the bike must already comply to current bicycle norm and have the manufacturers markings to that effect 2. The motor must be marked CE and the battery...

    Gsm vs bbs01

Sounds great! Because of the terrain here I was looking at 48 - 12/36 but if you are getting those speeds with the standard 46 I might not bother swapping out the standard cog. Is it the controller area of the motor getting warm?

Will the end of full speed throttles in January 2016 cause a rush to buy.

There is a really bad bit of journalism in Bike Europe today: "+16.2 % rise in e-bike sales in Holland in September. Unfortunately there is a drop in city and trekking bike sales to the order of 22%" Um, er, could it just be that e-bikes are cannibalising sales of other types of bike? Don't...

What I don't get is how do us Europeans get along without a throttle? There is a whole continent over here without throttles, maybe the UK being not so far offshore could join it someday? :p I see a lot of elderly tourists (mostly German or from Paris - another country as well...) on holiday...

From fuddy duddy to funky grandad

I was talking in terms of absolute top speed not legal limits. I would be scared cornering at 13 kph already

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

Very nice looking bike. I would say 20 kg tops for the weight, without rack and mudguards. The Suntour fork is one of the entry level trekking forks with manual lock out.

Because they are limited to lower speed. Usually between 16 and 22 kph
