Bosch made the VW emission cheating dongle.

What does the general press know about computers? They are the things you write articles on! You mean they have them in cars too now? When you go to your garage what does the mechanic do? Plugs into the ECU (car world buzz acronym for "computer"). The software controls the hardware. The press...

    Slow pedal assist:

Yep you found it! That used to happen to mine if I touched it with my foot while pedalling. You should be able to adjust it by hand so that it runs parallel.

Bosch made the VW emission cheating dongle.

No it is software. They provided a copy and VW loaded copies of it into the on-board computers of all cars they thought might need a helping hand o_O

    Bike to work e-bike

Welcome to the club! You managed a very good average for such a heavy bike! What would be better suited would be a ladies (low bar) 28" hybrid/trekking or sports bike with a mid motor, such as the one I am going to build for myself. You could expect to do your commute in an hour I think. My...

Why does a Pedelec cut out at 15.5mph?

Ahem... s-pedelec territory the average speed of any motorbike is WOT... I think that since I have a pedelec my around town speed may actually be slower than before but I have more load to carry or am not dressed for cycling or... I am doing stuff I didn't use to do and going farther...

    mid drive with triple ?

Try a large range double - your current big cog and small cog. Yes changing from one to the other will be painful but they are the two you will need. One when the motor works and the other when it doesn't. Best idea is a spare "get me home" battery.

Why does a Pedelec cut out at 15.5mph?

I have been running the numbers on my bike and future upgrade(s). Changing the chainset big cog from 42 to 48 will earn me 5 kph downhill slightly less on the flat where my cadence goes down a little. But that change will seriously modify my average speed over my 14 km commute. Moving...

KTM Industries was talking about the new Performance CX high torque motor for handling hills. He gave that figure so I guess we have to trust his insider knowledge

    Fitting the GSM kit

The tyre diameter you gave was 622-40 that is a 28". Depending on the make of tyre, the direction of the wind and the age of the captain you will get an approximate speed to within + or - 10%, the legal limit, the technology cannot be more precise than that. My speedo reading is within 2 kph...

    mid drive with triple ?

It is easier to do on a trike because the chainline is less precise because of chain length. There are kits/howtoos for double chainrings about.

    E-Bike over 250W Legal??

I am trying to make the current one a better bike. I do have a job but it is a survival job which has nothing to do with my real work skills, times are hard, your bikes are a dream which would only become accessible after a decent lottery win. I am just patiently chipping away improving when I...

    Cyclist fined for speeding

In France the road code applies to all who use the road which includes bicycles and... pedestrians! A pedestrian can be fined and, if she has one, lose points on her drivers licence for not respecting the rules of the road. Local laws define lower speeds than the national fixed speed in...

    Cyclist fined for speeding

"The speed limit in Richmond Park is 20mph but whether the rules should apply to cyclists has been questioned." So you have one speed limit for cars and another one for bikes over there? The law is the same for everyone here, much easier to understand... :p

    flykly - legal kickped apparently

It isn't a bicycle it is a scooter. There are even more head injuries for children riding scooters than skateboards. Add electricity and... it is a motor scooter, just like a Vespa is! Helmet, insurance etc, no problem about it being legal it just won't/can't be a pedelec.
