Ciclotek "Road legal" Platinum Sine Wave rear motor kit first impressions

Charge 4 got me just over 100 km. I went to the supermarket with my trailor in tow and the battery died in the last uphill before home so I had to pedal hard for about 50 metres  I was still passing cars though :) 100 km from a 10.4A battery doesn't seem too bad. I must be supplying a few...

Because they are mostly sine wave and not square wave controllers now.

    Bikes on trains

If you are ever in France the TER regional trains have a special bike area in one of the compartments and the bike travels for free. On the TGV and intercities it will cost you 10€ and needs a reservation. The Spanish Basque Country Topo has bike compartments and it is free.

First Electric Planes Fly Over English Channel

http://www.pipistrel.si/news/electric-crosschannel-flight-official-statement Ultra-lights not serious enough for you ;) They seem to scare Airbus silly.

First Electric Planes Fly Over English Channel

That is not the full story, Airbus had Siemens force another company to cancel their flight planned for the 7th of July. I think that is why the Cricri flight was done as a protest against the very unsportsmanlike attitude of Airbus. The other plane was also capable of flying to Dover and back...

    Interesting data from Strava...

Did some out of town riding et voila! my average shot up to the legal limit -> 25 kph. Which is plenty for me for now. And this latest battery charge (the fourth?) is heading for over 90 km!!! Ciclotek are only claiming 75 km per charge for the 10.4 Amp Samsung battery - I think that this must...

Where to try Cube Reaction Hybrid Pro 29er?

Looking at the photos of the bike there seem to be rack mount points on the frame??? http://www.cube.eu/en/bikes/hybrid/reaction-hybrid/cube-reaction-hybrid-hpa-pro-29-blackngreynwhite-2015/ I bought a a minimalist Giant rack for 27€ this week. What a life changer not having a backpack...

Q100C with different batteries on same controller

A friend has asked me to build him a bike and I was looking at exactly that configuration. Are the wheels really spoked without a cross like in the photos when they come from BMS battery?

    Interesting data from Strava...

I have been doing a lot of pottering around town in holiday season traffic (stationary lines of cars) and my average speed is now reading 20.7 kph (12.86 mph). I have yet to compare my speedo with speed from my tablets GPS, a speed trap radar told me I was doing 48 kph the other day (downhill)...

    Running in

Today even less heat and... even less noise! 1. Doesn't get hot in China? 2. Doesn't it get hot in Spain (origin of kit) Maybe I am just fussy and the smallest noise starts ringing alarm bells for me...

    Calories Burnt

That is Larrun, a Basque "mountain" which would be a good spot for all that are into m-pedelecs. Bring big batteries! 900 odd metres to climb. There is a MTB route around the base. Send a PM before coming and I will set up where to eat lunch and where to eat pintxo and drink wine after...

    eBay battery's

I've always wondered when seeing those promotional photos: what does the second key open? :D And most Chinese are either communists or buddhists so god has nothing to do with it!

    Calories Burnt

I have turned my assistance back down to 27 kph. Most times I am riding at about 32-35 on the flat so I am providing the extra watts to get there. When I get back from a long ride I do feel it my legs. I feel that the bike can still be ridden to keep fit. If I want to go somewhere without...

Can a pedelec be a mobility scooter?

Walk along mode won't carry a rider - at least with my kit (ok maybe on the flat, haven't tried yet). I am wondering if it will even pull my trailer, that is where it is really useful.

    Trip reset

Here we are in 2015 and trip reset is such a PITA... On my LCD you have to press the up and down arrows simultaneously after it has been on for 5 seconds then briefly on the on/off switch. Yes it did take me a while to get it right. Yesterday I did it when I was on the wrong screen and it...

    Running in

yep... not a mm... Went for a test run: 1. Today it wasn't 38°C like the other day and there was less noise - still there at around 425W in assistance level 5, could it be clutch slippage? 2. in levels 1 -> 3 the motor is silent 3. in level 4 and 5 the noise starts when climbing steep hills...

    Running in

Unlucky... This is not working at all not even 1mm. I am using a DeWalt professional heat gun and it is hot enough to cook an egg on... Putting the wheel back on as is I need to be mobile I will live with gear whine or not use too much power or both. In any case it won't be going back under...
