    UK government EAPC guide update

Love the question: "Is there anything wrong with this page?" "Everything" was the answer that sprang to mind. So a plate saying "Mxus, max speed 15.5 mph" will make my bike an EAPC. Cool! I also don't know of any motors that will produce only 250W...

Which app do you use to record your ride?

What is a "Smart Phone"? :p I used to have a mobile phone once upon a time when I had a job that required it. I used my tablet with OruxMaps for the very first time last week. We were out hiking in the mountains in Navarra on unfamiliar terrain and it was kind of a safety measure. I can...

Torque and Rotation (Cadence) Sensing - Clarification Question

I agree, from my limited experience (900 km, 4 kg of fat lost) if I want to do a little bit of sport I just turn the assistance level down. Riding a 20+ kg bike without assistance sure builds leg muscle quickly! ;)

    What should i buy? Trike/eped/allseasons emotor/ e scooter moped..

The other day I pulled up beside a Vectrix at a red light. The guy is very pleased with it, uses it for a 30km each way comute and has put 36,000 km on the clock in three years. He had just charged it and the gauge was showing a range of 105 km which he confirmed was real full charge range.

    Let's keep the throttle!

Throttles ARE legal all over the EU but limited to 6 kph so basically useless to anyone but the disabled. They permit "takeoff" for a (slightly) disabled person who doesn't have to balance during that first "both feet off the ground moment". Then just turning the pedals without applying any...

    Let's keep the throttle!

My dream. Not an ICE but a HPVelotechnik Gekko. A couple of 48V20Ah batteries in the hard cases for LOOOONG range cruising. A pinion gear box on the front and a "legal" 250W hub motor in the back wheel. Maybe not the nose...

    08 Bottle Batteries at BMSB

Looks like all I have to do is turn it around the other way and there are a couple of empty cell holders that could be cut off to make it even smaller. Some shrink rap to protect the cell connections and Bobs your uncle! One custom ply/epoxy/fibreglass battery box to design!

    08 Bottle Batteries at BMSB

d8veh this bottle battery would be the perfect donor for internals to put in a custom battery box for my frame I think. From your experience can the welded groups of cells be slightly squished down without risking breakage of the metal bands between cells? I found a photo of the inside of this...

    08 Bottle Batteries at BMSB

OK thanks that is new. Now I just have to scale it to see how high the front is and at what distance from the back it starts sloping down. I am afraid that it slides forward to disengage from the base though... UPDATE Kiwi number eight wire measuring strategy used YMMV... 1. Scaled image...

They have been there for several days, you're losing your edge! :p I asked Vicky for a dimension drawing to see if it will fit my new frame but no dice... Maybe you can extract a dimension drawing from them?

Which app do you use to record your ride?

I don't but if I did I have OruxMaps on my tablet and the map for north of Spain has bike paths on it so it would be pretty exact. The ride can be saved and exported in the usual formats.

    3 gears and 7 gears?

I have the Shimano 14-34 Megarange freewheel. I just upgraded my rear derailleur so that I can use my 34 tooth granny gear. It is there for when the battery runs out otherwise I only use about three of the other six gears. I also took off the twist grip gear changer and replaced with a trigger...

Bike build - xiongda 2 speed

I just had one of the bullet connectors from the battery to the controller snap in half the other day when I was re-running the wiring on the bike after a few modifications. In my case cheap very hard plastic insulation was to blame. The black wire is now permanently soldered to the controller.

Latest rear wheel conversion kit from Cyclotricity

My way: 1. take off the bearing cover 2. place the wheel on a recipient large enough to catch all the ball bearings then lift the free wheel off 3. unscrew the inside of the freewheel using a bottom bracket/crank wrench You can reassemble the unmounted freewheel on the bench. A bit of grease...

    The Best Value Wattmeter

I like the idea of a watt meter between the charger and the battery. I would probably just cut the wire and solder it in permanently. Tiny green and red lights don't rock my boat. I too read the satiator page. What I really like is the output and short charging times. Any recommendation for a...

A almost perfect bike that needs to be returned

I finally weighed my bike the other day and surprise, surprise 20.5 kg with (drum roll) fully charged battery . I was sure that it was heavier than that. I do take the battery out when I carry it up the three floors to my apartment to work on it.
