    Li-ion Charger recommendations

I modded my Sans Plastic chargers and they run a lot cooler now, I added about a dozen 8 - 10mm holes all over to aid airflow and cooling.

Building a small (36v/8ah) bottle battery with BMS

When my 2 x 29E Dolphin batteries have had their day on my commute/town errand bike , I shall most likely build a drinks bottle replacement. A 10s or 13s 2p with VTC6 cells or hg2 most likely for a handy 216 - 297 wh, ideal for 10 - 20 miles. Though for 13s a taller size 80mm dia drinks bottle...

30 very happy miles on my new Crossfuse!

Crank/mid drive are torque sensor drive so it provides power in relation to the effort you put in so the ride/pedal action is more like a pedal bike. Hubs are in the main cadence sensor if even if tired /fatigued you only need to in part ghost pedal for activation or pop it in to highest...

    Yosepower hub kits.

The hardest part with hubs is opening them esp the ones screwed together, the side plate variants are easy. Often the first few mm to pry a part can be tight esp if moisture has got in and oxidised. Next time I open/work on a hub I will post a how to thread with pics and description of task...

Evans Cycles is urgently seeking a buyer

My last two visits, on both occasions I was ignored by staff when looking at prospective bikes and other merchandise. Appearance of too many staff doing not a lot and not really bothered about interacting with potential customers tis why in the whole I use internet stores for 99.9% of my...

    Yosepower hub kits.

You can't stop the bearings from wear it is down to how much pressure is on the bearing laterally, they are easy to replace and have a part number stamped on them, so are easy to source for 2 or 3 quid. A bit like GXP/Hollow tech BB's eventually bearings will wear. Plant gears are probably...

Building a small (36v/8ah) bottle battery with BMS

Small bottle battery you will need all the room to utilise, Vruzend kit bits will make things to bulky. d8veh it was who made one with 20a HG2's, 10S 2P I believe. Here's the thread. http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/how-to-make-a-lightweight-battery.28437/

    Greetings from Ibiza

Orbea is a Spanish producer and the brand is a growing a good rep, esp the Gain series of road bikes. For your location buying in to the brand is probably a good idea esp if choice is scarce.

    Yosepower hub kits.

The only time I have noticed any grinding is with worn bearings, either a side plate one if fitted or one on the opposite face. Also there should be a larger central core bearing. If it sounds quite loud and mechanical / buzzy it is most likely be an electrical contact noise. If the motor wire...

    Yosepower hub kits.

I have not had the need to open mine yet, it is all but quiet in running bar a very low audible hum. Generally I open geared hubs at 2k miles just to have a look or if a bearing is worn which manifests as a grinding/wear noise that is audible. A loss of drive if it occurred or a stuck clutch...

Make sure the motor connector is fully together, other wise remove the side plate and check to see how much grease is in there. If you need more grease use a non petroleum based one .

Headlight Control Function on KT LCD3

AFAICS kt lcd only has back light mode, any light needs optionional light /horn switch. I use horn switch for the front and rear light and the built in peep peep with the front light.

Upgrading to a more powerful battery

Best vfm battery to buy would be one with Panasonic PF cells for more mah/ah per cell then Panasonic GA cells. Hardcase battery or softcase ? Two examples using top notch GA cells...

    Derestricted or legal

With my kt lcd's if I set the speed limit to 25km/h, cut off is exactly 17mph and not 15.5mph, so as Flecc has said previously that is legal with 10% error margin. Mostly though I like it a bit higher. With KT lcd speed limit can't be adjusted on the move so it is not a switch.

Upgrading to a more powerful battery

Good news for you TM, you have a dual voltage controller. You can use any 36v or 48v battery with any amount of Ah as this only means more range, the greater the capacity. Going 48v will give you 33% more torque and speed if the bike isn't restricted.

Replacing a BMS in a bottle battery

Remove the jst connection for the sense wires so no damage can be done to the bms as this is where damage may occur. Power for the bms is usually via the jst sense wire connection as this has multiple v+ & a single v- supply and only needs to see low voltage for power. For the switch...

Replacing a BMS in a bottle battery

Sorry Kirstin, I missed this one. No I didn't build one, I paid $80 and got a Boss spot welder from AULAKIRA in Korea which runs off a 65/130c 3s lipo. Its a great bit of kit approx. 7.5cmx 7.5cm x 10cm. Totally programmable to get exact weld strength required. This is the ES thread with some...
