    Brexit, for once some facts.

Since we now have a custom of asking the public's advice on matters they don't understand, perhaps she'll have a referendum on what sort of Irish border the people would like. Since the people of the ROI wouldn't be able to vote in it, out of fairness and a need for balance and impartiality...

I doubt he even gave it a thought, such was his complacent belief that the vote would be to Remain. .

Which other forums do you frequent?

It might take a little while. Today's news is that the Republic are likely to lose their minority government next Tuesday after an opposition vote of no confidence. Since the Northern Ireland Assembly has been suspended for ages with no prospect of a return, the whole country will then be...

You aren't keeping up to date on the Brexit thread, we're currently dealing with easy issues like the Irish problem(s). ;) Religion next. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Since NI voted to remain in the EU, surely the sensible option is for NI to leave the UK and rejoin the ROI. .

I have twice, in observing how distorted their personal viewpoint is. I've remarked before on the myth that it was the old people who voted for Brexit, it clearly wasn't as many of the oldsters in this thread show. The bulk of the Brexit vote very obviously was from the middle years...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

But again, 18 millions cannot have had personal circumstances that made anything else better. Those in the stable circumstances I described who thought that anything would be better were quite simply unthinking idiots. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Eighteen plus millions voted for Brexit and the great majority would be adequately fed, in stable jobs and stable home situations. To imply anything would be better is ridiculous. The majority of alternative scenarios in this world are far worse. .

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

Unfortunately they are these odd double ones with a shoulder. The one I'm showing is from a Panasonic unit, but the Daum is a copy, exactly the same design and may even be identical. But of course Panasonic don't supply spares either:

About time, they are to blame. Although I thought offering the referendum was daft, the government wasn't to blame for the outcome. That rests solely with the voters. .

    Dowsing for Water

That has always been my instinctive view too, but why are there so many instances of water being quickly found by dowsing? Therefore I wonder if there is another element present that leads the dowser to move the "tools" in response. We know that many mammals can locate water by smell over...

    independent e bike technician

Britain was first with mid motor pedelecs in the early 1980s, and one, the TGA Electrobike continued on the market through to the late 2000s. Yamaha, Panasonic and Giant each had their own on the market in 1999, but that cumbersome Giant was replaced in 2001 with one using the Panasonic motor. .

The Swiss assessment is absolutely right. It's so sad that half the UK population will need a few years before they finally realise that too. .

Advice re new bike with hub gears.

But you haven't explained anything, the feel of an ordinary bike can still there with a hub motor. How the assist feels is a matter of how the motor is controlled, and that can be same for either hub or crank motors. The gears are there for riders, since they intrinsically have a very limited...

Advice re new bike with hub gears.

Consider this: Electric cars like the Nissan Leaf use electric motors directly driving the wheels for their entire 80+ mph speed range, with no gearbox. They are the car world's equivalent of e-bike hub motors. Why on earth would one need an e-bike motor to drive through lots of gears to...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

There was no need to quote that article Peter, I'm well aware of the content but despite that have given my reasons for being a Remainer. But I've extracted the portion above to try once again to get you to see my original posted point. There's no shortage of German products in those...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Why this myth again? Of course we are free to trade with the rest of the world as an EU member, Germany does it very successfully, how do you think Mercs, BMWs, Bosch products and Siemens trains get everywhere? We are just not very good at it, making our prospects out of the EU rather dismal. . .
