    Brexit, for once some facts.

Agreed, it's one hell of a governmental shambles. Thank goodness the mainland EU countries are united on the subject of Brexit, they all think it's a stupid own goal. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I totally agree, May's appointment was a real own goal. The Remainer dissatisfaction was certainly not the sole cause of their loss of majority, but I'm quite sure it helped considerably since so many of us were angered by the Tories even offering the referendum. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I agreed with much of what was in Tim Stanley's article but there's a couple of points I'd pick up on: The trouble witn privacy is that it's all too easy for it to be seen as secrecy to hide something, creating rumour. In my management career I always made public my salary and bonuses...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Agreed, but as OG posted a short while ago, we are all independent and I'll add to that, of all political persuasions. The only thing we have in common is our certainty that Brexit is a very big mistake. So it's not possible to have a political party who represent us all on the Remain side...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Absolutely. You, Old Tom and I agree on the disadvantages of Brexit, but have opinions on other matters that will often conflict. I doubt we even have a common opinion on the advantages of Remaining, all having our own set of reasons why it's the best option. .

I have to accept this disadvantage of equality of free speech. I hope that you've noticed that I don't attack those persons who post opinions opposed to mine, I only argue with their opinions where they conflict with mine. So in the interests of treating all equally, I don't attack those with...

Why don't our police have this?

In city chases at present they often have to take extreme avoidance risks when meeting traffic at lights etc. If the police are not right behind them but just tracking from a distance, they can be less desperate and also get chances to lose the tracker. Even at present they often stop for the...

Pity the poor ebikers in Northern Ireland

We had a parallel situation in the rest of the UK for 12 years, when virtually all the e-bikes we were riding were legally motorcycles. The difference is that since there were over 150,000 of us, the authorities were forced to change the law rather than attempt to prosecute us. There aren't...

And due to the wide range of its powers and regulations, agreed to by members, the United Nations is also a union, of almost all the nations on earth. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

You are introducing factors that are not relevant to what I posted. It is a fact that the UK is, and for a long time has been, in a far better place economically than it was in 1972. That is the essence of what I posted. Picking out lots of individual failings doesn't alter that, I could just...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

But why do you not think facts? On both the points I made: 1) The EU redistribution is a fact. Many UK areas have benefited far more from EU redistribution than from any UK government action. West Wales for one example, an area UK governments seem unaware of. 2) The UK decline before we...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

What is the EU redistribution of money from the richer to the poorer zones about other than this? It's being doing it for decades. Ignoring that I was the first one to do that in this thread and have repeatedly mentioned it to you since. So once again: The economic benefits of staying are...

Why don't our police have this?

They'd still have to closely chase in visual contact. Otherwise the moment the offenders learnt of these, when stopped at a junction/lights etc or out of sight in a side road, they'd just hop out and move it to an adjacent vehicle. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

You really do come out with some rubbish at times. Nothing has changed since the referendum date? Didn't you notice that the tories lost their majority in the general election? That was our Remainers fight back, and we near as dammit made it. Next time we emphatically will. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I have posted this before. May to stay in power until the less than satisfactory outcome of the Brexit negotiations, whenever that may be. Then a general election won by Corbyn and Labour. I'm not so daft as to believe that will bring a new and wonderful era, Brexit effects alone will make...

How in earth could you have got that from what I posted? Here it is again for you to re-read: I would have been pleased for personal reasons if he'd taken the Remain position at the last election, but it would certainly have meant the Tories not losing their majority. It says the opposite...
