Rides illegal machine - kills pedestrian & blames her........

I think you've misread my post, since I was responding to Steve A about drivers, not cyclists. I haven't commented on the sentence on the cyclist. .

Rides illegal machine - kills pedestrian & blames her........

Two years custodial does now seem to be the standard sentence on a driver for causing death, I've seen that passed on the majority of cases for some while now. Maybe not much, but far better than when a £250 fine was routine for the same offence a few years ago, until infuriated campaigners...

Rides illegal machine - kills pedestrian & blames her........

The 18 months custodial sentence is likely to affect the London couriers, especially those riding fixies, since they were already concerned about the implications of this case. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Indeed, and the most forceful driver for expansion of the EU into the old Warsaw block countries was prime minister John Major, who vigorously promoted it. There's always a reason, and in this case I'm sure it was a Trojan horse to aid US ambitions to expand NATO all around the Western Russian...

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

If the snail's pace ends up beyond March 2019, you might possibly end up better off than us with full acting throttles, since the EU restriction on those won't apply there if we've left. We're stuck with that unless the DfT makes a change, but since the last change which was legally important...

That's the answer, in Britain we drive on the left. ;) .

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

If N.I. law in this respect tracked UK law, yes. Basically the position is that when mopeds were introduced it was considered that a qualified car driver had the roadcraft so could be trusted with a two wheeler restricted to 30mph. Hopefully N.I. also adopted that policy. Second thoughts on...

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

That may not be a problem in respect of a licence for your e-bike, since N.I. law so often follows UK law. In UK law, any full car driving licence valid from before 1st February 2001 automatically qualifies as a group P moped licence. It therefore also covers groups AM and Q. .

    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

A driving ban on a person not having a licence commences at such future time that they might obtain a licence. Therefore, a person who hasn't got a licence but is facing the possibility of a ban, the smart move as Leigh Ping says is to immediately take out a provisional licence which lasts two...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Previously perhaps, but Theresa May has failed to match up, the public not being fooled by her and demolishing her majority. .

    HUB MOTOR CAPABILITY

What a strange response, considering I praised the Sparta's superb quality! I merely commented on it's limited ability when it was introduced, something you clearly know nothing about, since it's obvious that you have the modified model. That is however still one of the lower powered pedelecs...

Lifetime of a handlebar mounted head unit?

One of our members has just experienced a first problem with his circa 9 year old head unit, but it's thought it's likely to be only damp from some heavy rain, which should cure on drying out. The head unit can often be the longest lasting part of the whole bike and e-system. .

Stunning Mercedes Smart eBike reaches new heights!

The Brexit thread contributors didn't introduce it, only those who wish to censor. They are the ones who need to lighten up and leave others to what they enjoy. Their approval for that isn't needed or wanted. .

    From 1951

We didn't see them here, other than photos, but several of the Italian companies hadn't stood still on motorcycle design. Most of the publicity here was for the Gilera and later MV Agusta four cylinder race bikes, but the Italian home market was all about small two strokes from the likes of...

    From 1951

They were good, vastly better performers than the same size 1950s cyclemotors. It was no accident that the latter didn't last long, by 1955 only three of the many companies once making them were still in the market with one announcing the end of production that October. The centre of interest...
