    Fascism returns to Spain

The democratic way. Persuasion in the national government chamber as part of a campaign for a change in the constitution that would allow a referendum to follow. If that's not successful, tough, that's democracy. As so often observed, democracy is a very poor system of governance, but it's...

The "death" of the car, (as we know it)

Thanks, I'll have a look later at the insure by the hour option, but suspect the variability of my usage could make for difficulties and possibly high cost. Car insurance is riddled with unsuspected difficulties, for example my present two cannot be considered for any form of multicar benefit...

The "death" of the car, (as we know it)

Car insurers are racketeers, and government a partner in that criminal behaviour, not an opinion, a fact. There are many like myself who have owned two cars with the owner nominated as the only permitted driver. Since one cannot drive more than one car at a time, there is only ever one third...

Phishing Scams.. Share your best ones..

No, I don't have one. I do have a baseball bat that I accidentally inherited from someone who had it as a defensive weapon (long story), plus a quality air rifle, but neither of those were used. Didn't need them, I was decades younger at the time and well enough equipped without. .

I've fixed them long ago. There's a Jehovah's Witnesses centre half a mile away where they were only allowed to move in on a legal condition they didn't unreasonably pester the local inhabitants. Of course they immediately breached that condition so I threatened them with action. One of their...

The "death" of the car, (as we know it)

I am positive enough to have wanted one from long before most ever realised they were a possibility. But I'm denied that pleasure as are nearly a third of the country, so the refusal to believe that by some is frustrating. For the remaining two thirds who can have home charging, I agree owning...

HMRC gives £700 million IT contract to Amazon.

No it doesn't have, as I posted earlier they are using third party server facilities in Britain now, following using their own servers outside of the UK in places like Dublin, Frankfurt and the USA. They just like to mislead by being very secretive about this subject. Information link .

Phishing Scams.. Share your best ones..

Unbalancing door callers with the unexpected response works well, it creates a pause for the door to be closed. A favourite line of mine to do that, delivered with a friendly smile is: " Definitely not for me, but thank you for calling, it was kind of you to think of me". Door closed still...

Nor me, sobriety is best when making complex judgements. It has its disadvantages in relation to Brexit though, an alcoholic haze is helpful in seeing any good in that. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Keen sailor Ted Heath took our ship of state into the EU, knowing that was the best way out of the economic storm we'd been suffering. Now a group of landlubbers are setting us out to sea again without even a compass, navigating by blind faith. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The CBI have announced that retail sales have dropped to their lowest since the 2008 recession. Hardly surprising with inflation at 3% and incomes barely increasing over the long term. More of the Brexit "success" I suppose. .

HMRC gives £700 million IT contract to Amazon.

But Amazon don't even have a data centre here, they are using third party space after bidding 50% lower than the existing deal. Given the cut-throat business this is, they aren't making any profit and are probably making a loss on the deal. So why are they using their financial muscle to get...

The "death" of the car, (as we know it)

In my own case I've spent vast amounts of time on this subject over the last decade through interest in buying an e-car throughout that time. The snags are very real and more far reaching than many appreciate and it amuses me how often I'm told I'm wrong about the difficulties by those who...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Very easily, academia is far from short of individuals with the strangest of beliefs. It's why they so often argue among themselves, even to the extent of bitter feuds. And every shade of politics has its academic supporters, they can't all be right. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Alan Sked must be incredibly gullible to believe this. A government that may shortly be led by the man who still insists the certain lie that the EU cost us £350 millions per week is the truth. .

HMRC gives £700 million IT contract to Amazon.

I'm certainly not, I don't trust companies in general to keep my data reserved for legitimate purposes and trust large US companies least of all. The conflict of interest for Amazon is blindingly obvious, the company that sells us everything having access to the whole of our financial...

E-MTBs for Kids, but not here.

Trouble is that most will have to use a road to get to where they can off-road. That's why the law is a pain, I can't see bike dealers risking selling the kids versions here while the law is as it is. .
