many thanks, MB, for suggestions and pictures. They help a lot. I was thinking of this kind of velcro tape: When you fold the bike, they may hold the two parts together and at the same time, stop scratching the paint.

Volusia, I worked out the best match with your readings is 0.215V per mile. 0 mile: 41.8V 15 miles: 38.6V 25 miles: 36.4V 33 miles: 34.7V 45 miles: 32.1V what is important is the time it takes to recharge to full to confirm the correct load. Could you write down start and stop time for me...

if you worry about the controller taking in water, you can undo the 4 corroded self tappers on the right side of the pictures and open the controller case to check. Do leave the 6 bolts with red washers alone, they bolt the 6 FETs to the casing. Lishui controllers are well sealed. I am pretty...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

it will never come to unfair competition at that level, even if we leave without a deal. Firstly, it will take longer to negotiate an FTA with a country as big as China and the USA compared to an FTA with the EU, which is our top priority, customs union or not. You don't have to take the wheel off to replace a couple of broken spokes and true the wheel. Even if you prefer to take the wheel off, you should still put it back after removing the tyre and innertube. It's much easier to do this on the bike unless you have a truing stand.

we do it so many times that we can true the wheel, sitting down, talk and drink tea at the same time. It's no sweat, really.

    Whats the difference.

The manufacturers should really be called assemblers because nearly all the components in their bikes are not manufactured by them. That accounts for the higher input costs to them and ultimately, the higher cost to the products sold in the shop. The assembly job that is so straightforward...

Oldtom, Many years ago, I was about 12 or 13, my teacher started the first lesson in physics with a quote similar to this: Needless to say that lesson has served me well and I excelled in that subject. And I never insult the intelligence of people who hold different opinions to mine.
