How to make a lightweight battery

Another little gem on ES Forum.

I follow with (commercial) interest d8veh's lightweight conversion using the YTW06 motor. I don't know if it would pull d8veh up his 14% test hill but lightweight conversion would suit commuting because lightweight motors coupled to high quality lightweight donor bikes are usually very, very...

Another little gem on ES Forum.

I wonder if small blocks of 10S (call it a salami slice) connected via an 11-pin balance wire bus could be an efficient answer to incremental capacity. Each wire only needs to carry less than 2C, with 3000mAH cells for example, each wire would carry 6A max, thus does not have to be any more than...

if I had your bike here, this is how I would test it: 1. pull out the controller 2. unplug the two brake sensors (black/grey 2-pin connectors) 3. Unplug the throttle (red/green/black controller side, red, white, black handlebars side ) 3-pin connector. 4. Slot the battery back in with the...

    Travel expenses

yes, I do but I wouldn't claim anyway even using my own bike (I have 6), the post office is 0.2 mile, a return trip is 0.35 mile, 15p per day, 75p a week.

presumably, his travel expenses are for short trips in working hours. Like I'd claim for going to the post office every day on my bike.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

no, the other way. If labour comes off the fence, they will have to concede that having cake is incompatible with eating it and membership of single market or customs union is essential to avoid losing jobs and FDI, they will be forced to say that the choice is the same as the EU has said...

tactical voting. voters who take brexit issue to their heart will move to either ukip or libdems, losing them seats, if either of the two main parties come off the fence. I suspect also that the percentage of brexiters in the labour party membership is higher than in the population at large.

and we don't care about the cost. Close our borders now! That's what a guy who phoned in an LBC said. I suspect he'll tell the world that he voted labour all his life.

The Bafang G06 motor. How does it compare with the BPM?

The Big Bears' controller has 9 FETs. the HL1260 Lishui controller integrated into the battery cradle has space for only 6 FETs. The maximum possible is 22A but Lishui and the factory have to guarantee their product, so we agree to set it to 17A-18A.

I think they are M5 size. I'll send you some locking nuts on Monday. With the locking nut in place, you don't need to tighten much the locking nuts, so that you still can loosen the locking nut and turn the sensor screws with your fingers in case you don't have an 8mm spanner handy.

I have never disassembled a wuxing throttle before, it's usually replaced when it goes wrong. As for the two screws, they are different. The one at the top left is a self tapper, the one at the middle of the cradle has thread, I think it's a 2.5mm but will have to check. I think I can find you...

Volusia, d8veh's suggestion is logical. If you want to investigate, there are 4 cables coming from the handlebars: LCD, left brakes, right brakes and throttle.

Can you check that the speed sensor is still working? If you want to pull the controller out of its compartment, check the connectors. The hall sensor connector or one of the sensor wires may be dislodged.

I have no idea where that piece of black plastic you found came from. It's not part of the controller. There is one thing you could check for me: the pedal assist sensor. If the LCD is on, the pedal assist sensor (PAS) is active. When you turn the cranks (even backward), the LED should...

the 9-pin motor cable goes into the controller box where you will see a lot of connectors. If the water gets inside the controller box, it can cause all sorts of possible problems. If you could open the box and check if it's wet inside, we may have a better idea.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

It is likely that labour will win the next GE. Their problem will then be delivery of their manifesto. They won't raise enough taxes to pay for the promises that we know so far.
