Silver Powabyke unknown model help please

Hi Frank, sorry for misjudging your age. It sometimes seems to me that we've been in the pedelecs forum for ever! I'm well thanks, still chugging along at 81 years old now. Glad you're still going strong at Powabyke and thanks for the contact tip. regards, Tony .

bosch warranty with 2nd hand motors

I'm not worrying about it, since it's the court that will resolve it according to law, regardless of anything Bosch say. .

bosch warranty with 2nd hand motors

I can see one problem. Two years is not a reasonable life for an expensive e-bike motor and a court can and almost certainly will rule the supplier bear a proportion of the replacement cost if the life is considered inadequate. Such rulings can apply for items up to six years old in some cases. .

Brand neutral charging in the future?

True, but in e-bikes I don't think any company has enough clout. Even the Bosch clout is restricted to a couple of EU countries and by no means unopposed even in those. It's most likely that this attempt will all come to nothing. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

News out that Boris Johnson's sister, who is a Remain supporter, has joined the Lib-Dems and is exploring the possibility of standing as a candidate. I'd love that to be in her brother's constituency. :) .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I think the real truth about Boris Johnson is finally dawning on the wider UK public. Winning his way through life by the use of self-deprecating humour as a mask is no longer working. His history, plus accounts from those who went to school with him and from his own family have always shown...

Brand neutral charging in the future?

Makes sense since public charge points are needed in countries with high densities of e-bikes, like The Netherlands. It could also drive the provision of high speed charging capability in e-bikes. It will be interesting to see what it does to voltages, it could drive all designs to a 36 volts...

    I see your cheating then!

One day most cycling may be on e-bikes. Then the occasional unpowered cyclist may have to suffer e-biker's shouts of "Show off". :D .

    Lightweights Pfft!

By then he'd be so fit he wouldn't need an e-bike and the dog would be out of breath chasing him. :D .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I would never want to be without the BBC for a number of program reasons, and the licence fee never bothered me. But given their problematic relationship to the news, perhaps the answer is for their channels not being allowed to produce their own news programs. Either not show any news or have...

    I see your cheating then!

In fairness to the other side, there is an issue about the purity of human endeavour, and the use of a motor does affect that aspect. Just look at the media storm when a female race cyclist was suspected of using a concealed motor. Of course that is a sport use, so like using performance...

    lots of hate out there

I've also had plenty of good reactions from roadies who ride and train in the North Downs, mostly very friendly. It seems to be mostly the weekend "wannabees" who have their noses in the air and who've look contemptuously at my e-bikes Any cheating remarks I've received have been from...

Barbed wire stretched across bike trail near Crewe

This is a frequent problem. We had a tragic case a few years ago when some anti-cycling moron had stretched galvanised wire across a pavement where kids often rode their bikes. A young lad rode into it and was instantly killed by the taut wire hitting his throat, from memory he was 11 years...

    lots of hate out there

Your bike had some costly assist power to help you get more from your cycling effort. His bike no doubt had costly exotic lightweight tubing to help him get more from his cycling effort. What's the difference? None, either both are cheating or neither are. .

Could this actually work for me?

No, but not through steepness but how potentially dangerous it is with so much traffic and that narrow, tight, left hand bend near the top. But I have ridden a bit worse not far away, White Lane off Titsey Hill, leading up to Clarks Lane. That's 1 in 3.3 in part and closed to through traffic...

The only answer is back to the supplier for a new unit to be fitted, and it can happen more than once on the same bike. .

    Interesting

Definitely practical with large diameter tubes as shown. The principle similar to the reinforced tubing used on large inflatable boats, but with higher pressure. .
