Could this actually work for me?

It was the steep right up to the roundabout, but managed ok. It was the e-bike and trailer below with the towed second bike's forks bungeed to the rear of the trailer:

Could this actually work for me?

Welcome to the forum James. Is the hill you have at the end Upper Selsdon Road? Not too steep but very long at the end of a day. I haven't ridden that one but have a few times ridden nearby Sanderstead Hill in the past on an e-folder after dropping a car off at the former Saunders Abbott...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

It is possible the election will be close run, and I hope it is. Our positions on the electorate vis a vis the possible tax changes are not too far apart. By saying the electorate understand I didn't mean they liked the prospect, only that they understood why a tory government would act that...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

There is, but I can't see it being tackled. The problem is twofold, our deep involvement in the provision of tax havens, and the large investments in and through them by foreign interests, US businesses for example. Also any move could be self defeating, the users simply moving to existing...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

They have to. The problems for the NHS and Care have to be dealt with and there's nowhere to go for the additional money at present. Reversing policy into greatly increasing borrowing isn't an option. Having more tax change flexibility and being able to take something from well-off pensioners...

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

Thanks both, I thought as much but wasn't certain. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

And the EU is more than clever enough to have already realised this. It's in their interests to launch suitable well timed shock announcements. Even if they remain impartial, any of the leaders of the 27 other countries might well do their own thing in this respect, to throw a spanner in the...

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

But is it the Impulse 1 or Impulse 2 motor unit? That's important since the Impulse 1 was never troublesome to my knowledge. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I'd like to vote Lib Dem, but my constituency is one of the most marginal with only 165 vote majority for Conservative last time. It constantly yo-yos between Conservative and Labour at elections. Therefore I'll be voting Labour to try to eject the obsequious Tory creep Gavin Barwell from his...

    Aldi electric bike special buys

No worry, they're virtually the same thing. Aldi came first in 1913, Lidl not until 1930 so presumably copying. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I should have said "would be like", he isn't actually campaigning. However he clearly showed he had never been behind leave when the unexpected result came in, he hadn't expected to win and it obviously messed up plans. It also dumped him with a job he certainly didn't want. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

No, he's shown no wisdom. I accept that, as I maintained earlier, Minford is clearly an unreliable guide to Brexit prospects. His change of mind is like Boris Johnson now campaigning to stay in the EU. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

That's amusing, lucky someone here has an excellent memory. One of the earlier and strongest exponents of Brexit in this thread repeatedly quoted Minford's backing for Brexit as the example of why it would succeed. Seems even Minford has completely reversed his view. That alone should be a...

    Simple question

The load on the chain will be the same, it will consists of the rider power slightly reduced by the gearing loss, plus the corresponding increased motor power due to the more efficient internal gearing. Their system brings more risk of the chain failing to release and wrapping around the...

    Simple question

They steal efficiency from the rider by transmitting pedal power through an epicyclic, just to make their system more efficient by decreasing the motor drive reduction ratio. I think this is bad practice since average pedelec rider power is far more limited than their motor power. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Not necessarily according to the OED. When someone talks or writes drivel, we can say he/she drivels, all forms of the verb to drivel. That was what I was expressing in my previous post when giving the context, i.e. talking or writing. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The noun is drivel and it's also a verb, as when talking or writing drivel. Drivelling is the correct English spelling of the form you used, but driveling in American English. .

    Not your average pedelec

Yes, different is good, the more variety and less "straight-jackets", the better. .

    If only he'd been pedalling!

The e-bike the rider was on is a Tidal Force bike, once made in the USA but the very powerful motor designed in Russia. The motor is in one wheel, the battery in the other wheel. I've tried one, their top speed is 30 mph, so the officers observed 40kph easily within its capabilities. Tidal...
