Converting a Dutch bike to electric

in my experience, rollerbrakes on the shimano IGHs albeit adequate for normal bikes, don't have as much stopping power as V-brakes or disc brakes. The BBS kits put out 3, 4, 5 times the pedaling power of a regular cyclist, think about the braking power you will need when looking into conversions.

I use Acera cassette and KMC X8 chain on my Bali and Krieger CD bikes. They tend to need replacing around 2,000 to 3,000 miles. Although, recently I came across one that has done 5,000 miles and still on the original Acera cassette and KMC8 chain. On my hub bikes like the Big Bear, they seem to...

I would agree on short commutes, up to 5 miles or so. Bosch bikes offer assist from 1x up to 3 times user input, the rider has to put in the rest (25%-50% of the required energy). It can be demanding if the wind is against you and/or you want to save time. On long commutes, you could use the...

I am not surprised. If you weigh the rear wheel of the Stealth 1000W alone, it weighs probably 8.5kgs with the tyre. The rear wheel on the Cube weighs about 2kg.

Brakes: both are hydraulic brakes but the brakes on the Rio cost me twice the price of the Shimano BRM315 on the Cube because the Rio needs sensored brakes while the Cube doesn't. The derailleur on the Cube is slicker, being Deore. With CD bikes, you need to be in the right gear so you need...

The Cube Reaction 500 you tried is perfectly good for what you wanted to do, with or without dongle, but for about the same amount of money, the second hand Cube Stereo is more pleasant to ride and probably have the same depreciation as a brand new Cube Reaction.

that Cube stereo hybrid 140 hpa race 500 costs 3,200 smackers new and without the dongle. AB only wants to spend £2k max. He should ask his wife for his early Xmas present.

The basic Pro 500 has cheap shocks and cheap gears. V8DaveP is selling his Cube Race with Fox fork here: http://pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/cube-stereo-hpa-race-140-20-frame.27599/ Seriously nice bike. I reckon it's worth £2,000.

your motor weighs about 7kgs, the Bosch motor weighs half that. The Bosch battery is also lighter and the mechanical bike also lighter. I used to live in Sale when I run our shop at No 5 Tib Lane in Manchester City Centre. Loved the area, so green in comparison to Southend.

A freehub (or cassette) lets you change just one worn sprocket whereas a freewheel has all its sprockets fastened together, you can't just change one sprocket. The cost for a single sprocket is about £5, a whole freewheel is about £10. You save a little money with a freehub. However, freewheels...

bosch warranty with 2nd hand motors

it seems to me that far fewer Bosch bikes are used as transport or for commuting. The probability of a motor problem with a Bosch motor must be quite small in comparison to a Chinese motor. So yes, I reckon the Court would find in favour of the claimants.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

next week local council election should give us an idea how the GE is shaping up. I think Mr Corbyn is doing OK, sticking to social and economic issues, leaving brexit to Keir Stamner. His weakness is still John McDonnell.
