    Brexit, for once some facts.

I suspect Mrs May may gain from the BBC coverage. Her 'strong and stable' approach is seen as right when the alert level is at critical.

Hello, is an ebike a suitable alternative to a expensive train commute?

50cc mopeds are much cheaper to buy than e-bikes. There are lots of studies about the time spent in commuting, the general consensus is commuting time less than 30 minutes is acceptable, that's roughly 10 miles one way. Over 30 minutes, it becomes more of a chore. Then the saving in time...

    Cheapest conversion available?

anon4, I believe the cheapest quality kit is currently the Woosh XF08CST kit with 13AH HL battery (Samsung cells). £499 with free left side pedal sensor, including delivery. You have a good controller (Lishui Sinewave 17AH), a good King Meter LCD, 5 assist levels, thumb throttle and a rear...

    Oxygen S Cross E-Bike!

I can't say I know anyone applying weather sealants to their throttle or LCD. the throttle is well insulated enough for riding in the rain but you need to dry your bike when you come home.

broken chain: no. The chain breaks usually because it's too short, so don't be tempted to shorten the supplied chain if you experience skipping. skipping teeth: not for a long time - 4,000-6,000 miles. The chain ring is made of steel, not alloy. accelerated wear: mainly the freewheel or freehub...

    Front or rear hub motor

many step through bikes have the battery in the rear rack, front motors help with weight balance. Also, you would never break spokes on a front motor because there is less weight over it. Rear hub motors give better traction compared to front hub motors. Middle motors are best for weight...

Hello, is an ebike a suitable alternative to a expensive train commute?

not for your distance. E-bikes are excellent for short commutes, under 10 miles each way. The more you increase the distance, the lesser the savings. Over 10 miles each way, a motorbike works out cheaper.

cant decide what kit to buy

it's not easy for first time builders to mix and match. if the OP wanted to buy a kit from me, that will be a 36V BPM or XF08CST. I don't keep 48V kits for some time now.

Pedal assist double hall sensor is intermittent

you are correct. The teeth on the sensor shell key into the teeth of the bottom bracket left cup. The main reason for mal-functioning is usually the rotor part of the sensor does not turn for one reason or another. A bit of grease would help the rotor to move more smoothly. I would remove the...

15st is average, not heavy. You don't need the BPM. The SWX02C is 1 kg lighter.

cant decide what kit to buy

there isn't much difference between the BPM and SWX02C kits. the top speed depends mainly on how many teeth you have on the smallest rear sprocket. If you fit Shimano freewheel, you have 14T on the smallest sprocket, Shimano freehub, 11T. You can pedal faster with 11T than 14T. To get to the...
