    Brexit, for once some facts.

Very true. I'm not so much talking down as believing that at the end of the negotiating process, we'll be very little different from at the start. A bit like Southern Rail and the unions, endlessly going round in circles to end up in the same position. Any real changes in our status will come...

Do the cops care about illegal eBikes?

I don't believe this widely applies and there's also well based conflicting opinions. All acceptance of evidence is subject to fashion, and nowhere is this more true than in the subject of physical discipline. It should always be avoided where possible, but ruling it out completely in all...

In this respect I think emissions will increasingly become the ruling factor, that's already beginning to happen in some areas. .

Do the cops care about illegal eBikes?

Yes, for one behaviour only, smoking during school hours. But not for many others, crucially including respect for others, so it mainly worked. I'm linking crime levels, prison populations and poor social behaviour. All the downsides of those are linked to a marked increase in absence of...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

If Brexit happens we could conceivably return to the days of purchase tax instead of VAT, the latter only introduced as a condition of joining the EU. Purchase tax had a standard rate of 33.33% and a higher rate of 66.66% for anything deemed a luxury, a smartphone for example! .

"If" being the key word. I too hate the idea of hitting any child, or anyone for that matter, but I don't ignore the evidence either. .

I also received plenty of physical discipline at early ages, including hands caned witn a ruler from 5 years old and the cane from about 8 years old, so I appreciate what's behind the logic you express, even though it has no factual basis. But I believe your concluding sentence is completely...

Do the cops care about illegal eBikes?

And as part of the teaching, disciplining. We used to be corrected at every age, including smacking etc when necessary, but now it seems children are untouchable since they have "rights". It never seems to occur to the politically correct brigade that rights without responsibilities is...

Do the cops care about illegal eBikes?

The police ignore a very large range of offences, they mainly concern themselves with a narrow range of matters that the government deems suitable to pursue. This police attitude has become indoctrinated now. For example, in my London Borough the council is proposing widespread 20 mph limiting...

They say they aren't indemnifying the purchaser in any way though, so it's for the buyer to either use it privately or take risks. As ever it's not illegal to sell vehicles that can't be used on public roads. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

There was an attempt by the European Parliament to scrap power limits on pedelecs, relying only on the assist speed limit, but the EU commission refused to accept that. The moped changes you mentioned are already there in the Netherlands, the S class high speed e-bikes permitted and some moped...

    An interesting comparison.

I think the answer to the question "is e-mtb lazy?" depends entirely on whether the e-mtb rider is lazy. It's bit like the question "Is photography an art?" Which of course depends on whether the photographer is an artist. .

    Hydrogen Powered bikes

Thanks, that's more pressure than I'd anticipated. Hopefully the hydrate recovery will be adequate, it's tended to be the problem very often, like the promised number of charges for NiMh cells which rarely live up to the claims. .

    Hydrogen Powered bikes

This is the claim I find questionable though. At low pressure the hydrogen gas volume will be much greater than at very high pressure. Then add the volume of the rare earths or other hydrate and the size comparison is going to be unfavourable, even after accounting for pressure tank thickness...

    Hydrogen Powered bikes

That's using hydrates, typically rare earths that absorb hydrogen, and that's what NiMh battery cells use to hold hydrogen in their charged state. This isn't practical for fuel cell supplies though since the volume needed is so large. Hydrogen being light takes up a lot of space for a given...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I think that was only due to it not being a true independence referendum. It was heavily polluted by the issue of the EU and the euro, so rather than a choice of UK or independence, it became a choice between the UK and the EU. With neither looking attractive, most took the safe do-nothing...

    Hydrogen Powered bikes

Yes, that's the problem , the need to have at least 1000 lbs per square inch pressure for the supply, preferably more. That means a lot of weight and a lot of potential danger. Compare that heavy container system with the convenience of charging a battery from one's home electricity supply. .

Sorry to learn that battery is no longer available, I'm a bit surprised since Halfords were selling one of their Carrera bikes with that Sparc motor only a couple of years ago. I don't know any off the shelf batteries with that supply that 16.8 voltage, so I can only suggest a made up pack...
