Have you ever been asked this question?

It illustrates the sad state of basic science knowledge the British public have. The question is tantamount to a belief in the possibility of perpetual motion In this forum when I pointed out the facts to a questioner on this, he confidently responded that future developments will bring it...

Bicycle helmets reduce risk of serious head injury by nearly 70%, study finds

Yes I know, but these calls have never been successful for obvious reasons, chiefly that their aim is more cycling and helmets kill that aim. The greatest aid to safety for cyclists is not helmet wearing but more cycling. In round figures per annum for regular cyclists: Australia with 1%...

Not hap-hazard, clever and calculating buffoonery that he's used to good effect ever since his youth, Even members of his own family say as much! .

    Unbelievable Schoolgirl Guitarist

I agree, she's a simply astonishingly talented player, almost unbelievably skilled. But I still won't forgive her for what she did to "The Moonlight Sonata". Poor Beethoven, what did he ever do to deserve this. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

They didn't Tom, the result came about because of Tory gerrymandering. Fed up with London alway being Labour, long ago they changed London's boundaries to included swathes of the Tory home counties into what they called "Greater London". It didn't work though, since those Tory fringes resented...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I posted this right at the outset when he first chose to fight the Brexit campaign, his purpose only to do the opposite to Cameron. He came unstuck though, since he was banking on Remain winning so he could position himself for the next general election after the Cameron/Osbourne austerity...

Bicycle helmets reduce risk of serious head injury by nearly 70%, study finds

From Australia again of course. Ever since they killed cycling by helmet compulsion so effectively that they ended up with the lowest rate of cycling in the world, they've been desperate to get the rest of the world to follow. Only 1% cycle there and still they have about 50 cyclist deaths...

Who is right and who is wrong? - How taxpayers money is wasted!

In fact there are now almost as many cyclists as car drivers commuting into Central London and the remaining small gap is continuing to close. So the majority claim might not have the effect you desire. Given also the large increase in bus travel, looking after the majority could result in...

Who is right and who is wrong? - How taxpayers money is wasted!

The same rights that milk floats, tractors, JCBs, road rollers and other slow moving vehicles have to use the roads. After all, bicycles are much easier to overtake than those. And there's an increasing trend towards restricting all traffic to 20 mph in towns, bringing all down to cycling...

What do you do to prevent theft of your e-bikes/battery?

In addition to locking, never parking to a pattern in either place or time. I never remove a battery. However I never do any long term parking like day, half day etc, it's mostly up to an hour or so and often much less than an hour. .

And the condition of many cyclepaths is too poor for road bikes skinny tyres since they are rarely or never maintained. .

Motorists to be prosecuted for passing cyclist with less than 1.5mtr clearance!

Me too, so if cars can't come within 1.5 metres of bikes, bikes should be banned from being within 1.5 metres of cars. That would stop cyclists riding up the nearside of vehicles to commit suicide. .

Motorists to be prosecuted for passing cyclist with less than 1.5mtr clearance!

No point, they eventually drop dead from their exertions anyway. I could give examples but for the sake of relatives and good taste I'll refrain. .

Due Diligence when buying an eBike or eBike parts

They don't, they've twice marketed a pedelec as a promotional aid. The first was a Mercedes branded one in 2001 which was made by the Austrian company EMC-Puch. The current one under discussion is branded Smart, a Mercedes linked company, and it was built by German bike maker Grace and claimed...

Many forum softwares have this facility and I think it's because responses can be received long after the original posting as an answer to a question comes to light. It's probably not so useful in this forum and I have the facility shut off, but on another very different forum I have it enabled...

    Great idea for ebike frames

Yes, there's been a few like this, but as ever there are disadvantages. Chiefly they are being tied to the maker for batteries at any price they wish to charge and the possibility of discontinuation or the company closing leaving no battery supply. This has happened before. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Of course, temporarily since she's a politician and there's an election to win! It was exactly the same, read that inscription I quoted and see how precisely it fits those who perilously crossed the Med and journeyed to Germany. As I said, predictable small "c" conservatism, common to all...
