    TwinBurst dual drive bicycles

Can rather than will. Two motors without freewheels isn't going to make it pleasant to pedal over the limit assist or without power. Since the Lynch 250 watt rated trike motor can hit 4kW gross at near stall speeds with immense torque, I assume their claim of a 250 watt rating with...

    Our replacement for the EU?

Well said in every respect. In my view the EU is by far the best of all the major powers in this world, and all of it's citizens are beneficiaries of its policies. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Indeed. However I shouldn't be too disappointed, 86 days at an average of 49 posts per day. .

    Why Derailleurs gears?

Same here, Acera on both my last two e-bikes. The Acera rear mechanism also handles megarange sprockets easily. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

This was what started this thread 211 pages ago, my posting the BBC Radio 4 program that spelled out these facts of the Swiss situation. So we've come full circle! That radio program is still available from my original post on this link. .

    How deep is too deep?

I've ridden the fully sealed Panasonic crank unit though a flooded road that submerged it completely, up to and over the battery terminals, and it didn't cut out and suffered no harm. Your bike is listed with the Yamaha unit and I'd expect that to be just as well sealed. So as Fordulike says...

Surprising how quick these Brexit price rises have happened

There often is some truth in this, but history can be misleading over time. For example: Oil prices rise and so do prices related in some way to that, such as petrol, diesel, goods transport and fares. Following that there are other unconnected cost increases over time, such as wages...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Dream on. Other than the SNP, our parliament doesn't seem to have any intact political parties who can agree with themselves, let alone any other party. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

But this follows their announcement following the Brexit vote that they were putting all UK investment decisions on hold. This latest move is obviously putting pressure on government, the implied threat in both announcements being the possibility of them moving from the UK. .

    Our replacement for the EU?

Agreed and it's what I want to keep with. But if that doesn't happen we may need new ways. Not just selling to the UK in a Commonwealth solution, The Commonwealth is almost one third of this planet and a huge market, over four times the size of the EU. .

    Our replacement for the EU?

I'm sure this is true, but if it makes them happy, what's the harm? The Commonwealth has quietly had numerous changes. Initially Britain stood down as leading it, instead making it a club of equals. Then the membership rules were changed to allow more tenuous Empire connections to allow...

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

The highest reliability of all comes with a well designed and built Direct Drive motor, since mechanically there is nothing to go wrong, only having two parts, the hub core and the hubshell that rotates around it. Some companies still manage to mess these up with rotten software, but one that...

    Our replacement for the EU?

I completely agree everything you've posted and that the EU is best for us. But out of it means we may well need something else, rather than being all alone. The Commonwealth you remember no longer exists and hasn't for a very long time. .

    Our replacement for the EU?

I don't see it that way, it's not about control but about familiarity. As for whether it could work, such informality worked for most of the last 5000 years, rigid trading agreements being a very recent and troubled phenomena. It just needs us to adopt similar laid back attitudes to those that...

    Our replacement for the EU?

I agree and I like it and wanted to remain. But if we do exit and that is done rather messily to our continuing disadvantage, maybe another way becomes attractive. What I'm suggesting in this thread would result in a lower living standard than that we've enjoyed, but so will Brexit for a long...

    Our replacement for the EU?

That's not the lines I'm thinking on though. There's the WTA for example, within which all manner of countries can reach agreements to trade. In other words flexible, tolerant and very different from the EU's "one country" like rigid arrangements. As a third of the planet we wouldn't have to...

    Our replacement for the EU?

Titular head only. The Commonwealth for some while has been able to include countries that were never in the Britsih Empire so had no constitutional allegiance to our monarch. For example, Mozambique joined in 1995 and Ruanda joined in 2007, despite once being part of the French Empire. .
