    Brexit, for once some facts.

I've asked before, but I now ask again. Where is there a fact to support this apparent article of faith? I posted the facts that indicate the contrary is likely, but you responded with a Disagree. How can I give any credibility to your opinions when you disagree with proven historical facts...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

180 pages for a single thread is a record in this site, almost double the previous 100 page record. That seems to indicate a very interested audience. Because you don't like the majority of that audience is not a reason for censorship, just don't enter the thread if you don't like it. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Brexit, the decision to leave the EU, is a disaster for the simple reason that it will leave us isolated with our proven failures. Failure like our long standing appallingly low productivity for example. Failure like the continuous losses of all our industries and much of our commerce to...

Fast electric bike LANERI FALCON 250L

I'm not too convinced about this. Conventional bikes have a miniscule drag factor, it's the slob in the saddle who presents a multiple of the bike's drag. And that's best dealt with using full drop handlebars and wearing lycra after losing weight. Or riding a low recumbent as well. N.B...

    Translucent glue required.

Welding with a hot soldering iron often works to seal such a problem. A hot enough hot air gun can also work. .

Would it be alright to take a chain link or two out?

Sort of, as I said, three links, a chain link is two sections, below is a photo of one link: You can see it spans two teeth, so to compensate for the six teeth reduction in your chainwheel, you need to remove a length of three of these from the chain. The photo I'm adding below shows the...

Fast electric bike LANERI FALCON 250L

Not really. We've happily adopted integrated batteries, some very nicely styled modern e-bikes, a variety of suspension systems, advanced LCD controls etc., so far from old fashioned. Indeed, the e-bikes from companies that have stuck with old designs are widely criticised here. .

    Halfords sale enquiry

It's always worth a try, retailers will often give way for the sake of goodwill. They know that if they please you, you will tell others and personal recommendations based on experience are worth more than any fat advertising budget. .

Fast electric bike LANERI FALCON 250L

The view on such products is very different in the UK from that in the USA Vic. We tend to be less receptive of such drastic styling changes and more conservative in our tastes. Of course we have seen these forms of advanced e-bike styling from the USA before, so it's not entirely new. Apart...

Is Specialized dumping the hub drive Turbo models?

Investigating the UK web site seems to show similar. Clicking on hub motor models where they appear seems to either lead nowhere or to the crank motor models. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Even worse is that it's now reported that our productivity has dropped further to a previously unknown low. And to make matters even worse still, it's said that the new reduction in interest rates will reduce productivity still further. An illustration given of our present productivity is that...

Would it be alright to take a chain link or two out?

You've reduced by six teeth, which is three links to remove to return the tension to what it used to be. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The huge cost of Brexit continues and grows. The sooner we abandon that ill-based notion, the better. We aren't just damaging ourselves, we are damaging the world economy. .

They don't from what I've seen. I've watched a program showing the maintenance engineers oiling and changing the gearboxes and gearbox parts. The turbines drive through a chain of toothed steel gears to increase the turn speed into the generator. The program reported that they regularly...

    Who was right?

Yes, as you and Craiggor say, it was avoidable with defensive riding and why I've never been caught that way. However, the car driver should have used mirror and signal to make that manouvre, even a signal alone before the turn would have given the cyclist a better chance to stop in time. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Germany has gone into the solar alternative more than any other nation, but some of their circumstances are more suited to it than ours..Basically it supplies the household in daylight when the energy isn't needed so generates surplus then, but when the households need more power in the evenings...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

That was politicians misreading what engineers said at Calder Hall, which was in fact a nuclear weapon production facility, creating plutonium, and not a power station. They told the politicians that the plant could generate it's own power as an effectively free side product, which for them was...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Greenpeace are crackpots. It's base load generation we need and almost no renewables are that. Instead of their continuous negative objections and crackpot suggestions, why don't they tell us what the practical alternatives are? Why the hysteria about a tiny one kilometre patch of land? It...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

But that's historic in these fast changing times. As I remarked recently, the spread of electric cars and especially rechargeable hybrids will reverse this. Three years ago the rechargeable hybrids didn't exist, but they are now a very fast growing sector of the car market. I'm far from...

    Who was right?

Yes, driver completely in the wrong, legally and morally. That pedestrian was probably just another of the anti-cycling brigade who are so common in Britain. Saw a similar situation happen ahead of me many years ago, so I stopped my car, got out and crossed into the side road where the car...
