Back in the 80s, about one out of 10 consignments by roads got pulled for inspection but did not cause much delay.

I used to import PC cases from Rotterdam and Hamburg before the Single Market, there were hardly ever any delay due to inspections.

Why? Customs clearance for Chinese bikes is all computerized, after brexit, goods imported from the EU would be subjected to the same regime, no sweat really. The problem for importers is actually when brexit succeeds, the Pound then rises in value causing earnings to drop.

Would you mind if I wonder out loud? I am looking at the possibility to supply IBDs with just the frames and electronics. The shops can then add all the other components. This is because the very high courier cost of sending the whole bike back and forth to the shops stops me selling to IBDs...

agreed. I think Greenway has set the bar for the baseline product. It is nigh impossible to compete with Greenway on value for money. Other suppliers will have to have some other features above the baseline to justify their price.
