    Brexit, for once some facts.

Sorry, my mistake. I fell exactly for/where the author intended. Again my mistake, not google's. Google gave 743 millions for Europe as a whole, if I specify 'European Union', google did return 508 millions.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Here is the link to the Telegraph article that OG referred to. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/12/29/migrants-will-come-uk-entire-eu-populations-britain-stays-single/ The author made a mistake, the EU population is of course about 731 millions. The (pro brexit)) Migration Watch group...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The only thing Mrs May can do for the moment is to raise interest rate. Norman Lamont tried that the day the Pound exited the ERM. He lost £8 billions by the close of the trading day and was forced to give up. The rate went briefly up to 15% that day. The lesson is clear: you cannot buck the...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

She can always trigger A50 and do nothing for months. Any other choice will be harder. Her first priority is where to find the money to keep up with the balance of payments. She can't continue with austerity. She can't raise taxes. She will have to keep on borrowing more and more. The BoE can do...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The issue for both sides is future costs. To remain in the EU, there will be reduction of sovereignty, rise in population and forever more regulations. To leave the EU, there will be the lower value of the Pound because of capital flight, endemic trade deficit and the economy left in the hands...

If you want to read the report that Zlatan mentioned in his post, here is the link: https://masterinvestor.co.uk/brexit/britain-sucked-eu-bailout-vortex/ I personally find that report inaccurate.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I sometimes despair at the zealous defence of brexit in some of our newspapers. There is no need for the Euro and the Eurozone to fail for brexit to succeed, it is rather the opposite.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Our banks have a small exposure but I don't think we guarantee bad debts in the Eurozone. The Eurozone has about 1 trillion Euros worth of dodgy loans, but this number has to be taken in the context of 19 countries, 339 million people that make up the Eurozone, their combined GDP about 13...

0-15mph acceleration of 250W electric bicycle?

that seems to be too long. I reckon it takes less than 12 seconds to hit 15mph.

true or not, Laura did say this morning on radio 4 that it was single sourced. It could be that Laura's source and the Sun's is the same. Of course brexit is complex. The problem is, for most people, they can't see why it has to be so complicated.

There are so many to choose from - help

Thank you Beach. The main drawback of the Bafang BPM motor on the Big Bear is its weight, 4.5kg before you add the rim and the spokes. The other blessing and also a curse is its big torque. It can be brutal on throttle. So much so that we need to add suspension to prevent it from breaking the...

There are so many to choose from - help

Hello Beach, that comment from trex (who has now left the forum) could be justified. The Big Bear has been reviewed more times on this forum in the last 3 years than any other bike I can recall. The Big Bear in the picture is the latest 2017 revision, they are now in stock. I will up date the...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I must say I am a bit of a sucker for conspiracy theories. Both sets of result seem to have been swayed by clever use of information technology: twitter, facebook, hacking, fake news etc. Donald Trump did not win the popular vote but won the key swing states. It's like a daring corporate raid...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

This is the time of the year when the weather outside invites reflection. The two biiggest events of the year are of course brexit and President Elect Donald Trump. Do you think history would have been different if Cameron had delayed the referendum to June 2017? Would Donald Trump have won?

    OK to use motor only?

Hi John, you can ride the Santana CD on throttle alone. Try to avoid the highest gears (6,7), the smallest cogs at the rear always put more stress on the motors than the larger cogs.
