Kudos Rapide gets 108 miles out of a 10.4 Ah battery.

In this as with all averages questions, it's a standard distribution curve. Like all such curves, there is a large hump in the middle, and that is the mean or average. In e-biking that hump centre is 12 wh per mile. For those of you who are arguing with Kenny and I on this subject, have a look...

Not really like that, it's exactly as Kenny said, the 12 w/h per mile is around what the majority get. A to B magazine with their very long experience of e-biking and e-bike users say the same. The threads on this we've had in the past confirmed it, a few around the 8 mark, very few below and...

Absolutely true Kenny, and why I quote 12 Wh per mile as average. It's been proved in past threads where we've collected the averages members get. The very low figures a few get are very misleading for newbies. .

Yes, I realised that Dave, possibly not all in one continuous cycle ride either. I mentioned the Kalkhoff case to show yours was better than that. I don't think these efforts have any meaning for the average e-bike customer though, most want to know if they'll get up hills without pedalling...

    Alternative Lithium battery use

It should be plenty for your purpose, forget Ah and think in terms of time and power needed. The power needed is probably little more than your e-bike needs. Your 18 miles on the e-bike will take about one and a quarter hours at the legal assist speed. Take off the quarter hour to account for...

The rider did at least 84% of the work then, just 16% electric propulsion. Since the additional weight of the e-bike over a good road bike would have used at least that 16%, he'd have been better off on an unpowered roadbike. Kalkhoff did the same with a team of three riders, each of the three...

    Leaving the EU

That 1992 application was never seriously in prospect, which is why neither side ever pursued it. It was a part of negotiating the European Economic Area (EEA) agreement and they were already EFTA members anyway. .

The answer was already posted on this link. Neither the ins or outs of course, the undecideds. .

    Leaving the EU

The present known is far more known than the unknown, and I think the talk of EU instability is vastly overstated. It's the sort of stirring up trouble the media delight in. It may be that a few countries do depart over time, but I see that as a benefit that will strengthen the union, since...

    Leaving the EU

Of course, any degree of union agreement can't be achieved by 28 leaders arguing among themselves, as Cameron's renegotiation proved. A small degree of dictatorship is necessary. .

    Leaving the EU

Hence my mention of cowardice. When all else fails in reaching any decision, the undecided invariably opt for the known evil rather than risk the unknown. It's one of the two reasons I think the referendum is a waste of time and money since the end result will be to remain. .

    Leaving the EU

Yes, still uncomfortably close and heading for a balance. In the end it may come down to a mix of cowardice and whether it's bucketing with rain on polling day. .

    Leaving the EU

It will be just as bad here if out of the EU. The latest scam our politicians have dreamt up is taxing our pension contributions at source, to raise another £20 billions. The proposal is that they won't be taxed when we eventually collect them at god-knows-what age in future. Yeah right. I...

    Leaving the EU

This is one thing I find convincing. Today our politicians again discussing raising the retirement age to 70 and looking forward to it being 75 or even 80 later. Meanwhile in Europe where retirement ages of our nearest partners are often lower and state pensions much better, one leader is...

    Leaving the EU

But that is how it has to be if the options are a present known or a future unknown. Those promoting a future unknown have to be positive about the possibilities to attract others. Those backing the present known have to be negative about a future unknown to retain others. That's fundamental...

    Whoosh Karoo quick Review

Understood, you have to be fit to enjoy unpowered riding. However, with the amount of work you must be putting in for that low consumption, you really are exercising a lot and you'll soon be very much fitter, not just feeling healthier but actually healthier. I also recommend Schwalbe Marathon...

    Whoosh Karoo quick Review

Understood, that 7 is getting into the more worthwhile area. The secret unpowered is a good road bike as you say, and enjoying your own fitness for doing it. I've never enjoyed e-biking as much as I enjoyed my unpowered riding, it's just not the same. .

    Whoosh Karoo quick Review

But I wasn't 20 years older in 2003 when I started using electric straight from riding the same area unpowered for many years. And the trailer towing, 6 miles usually once a week, was a tiny proportion of my mileage. When we've had questions about range etc, the average consumption rate has...

    Whoosh Karoo quick Review

I live in a very hilly area, the North Downs, but despite being an unpowered rider of many years in the area and not braking downhills unless essential, on an e-bike I expect to use about 12 or more watts per mile. At 6 or less watts per mile I wouldn't bother with the costs and complexities of...

Each to their own of course. You must still be putting in quite a lot of effort to make up the difference. Wouldn't suit those who like a lazy life! :) .
