    Captain Eric Brown

Which would make him a good road user, particularly as a cyclist. That's through knowing that accidents don't just happen and aren't a matter of luck, but are events we contribute to. .

    Captain Eric Brown

Not in any way wanting to devalue the amazing life of Captain Eric Brown, I just observe that opportunity comes into it. What he did in his lifetime is no longer possible now due to greatly changed circumstances. I suppose the nearest possible now is an air force pilot career culminating in...

    Hosehold appliance wiring colours?

I understand what you mean, but that EU meeting didn't decide on the red colour. It was already a fait accompli throughout mainland Europe so that was just retained but with pictograms added. So for them that was a clarification, but for the UK in complying there was potentially a loss of...

    Hosehold appliance wiring colours?

There is an EU standard that the UK now follows, but it's in a British Standard, BS EN3 of 1997. The colour coded body system was unique to the UK, no other country followed it so it could cause confusion. In addition, it wasn't adhered to anyway as pre that standard they often varied. I have...

    Leaving the EU

All true Dave and there's a central key within it. Thats the superior manufacturing and marketing of the German companies that enables them to charge far more for their products, which in turn enables the loyal steel buying at higher prices. The Swiss do similar, selling quality at very high...

    Leaving the EU

Although there's truth in this, I think Tory MP's self interest would win. Informed opinion is that Cameron will be forced to resign if he loses the referendum vote which means finding a successor. Boris Johnson has undoubted electoral appeal and the party has no-one else with anything like...

    Leaving the EU

Boris only leans Boris's way, self-interest has been his lifelong policy objective. Typically, he's waiting to see which way the referendum cookie crumbles to give him the best chance of being seen on the winning side. Privately he almost certainly hopes that's for leaving the EU, not because...

    can they handle it?

Quality crank drive unit e-bikes like the Haibikes maybe, since the motor unit and battery are usually both central and therefore substantially protected from shocks by the suspension and indirect position of shock origin. The battery mountings on some might need reinforcement though. But hub...

And even motor and controller wires on large scale production e-bikes. Here's one example that crops up from time to time: Controller Yellow connect to Motor harness Green. Controller Green connect to Motor harness Blue. Controller Blue connect to Motor harness Yellow. They couldn't even...

As Juicybike says, the best way to go about it is to try a few. They are not all the same and their differing systems bring personal preference very strongly into play. The one you like best will be the best one for you. The ones others like best won't necessarily be. .

    Leaving the EU

I'd say less and less compromised over time. As the EU becomes increasingly harmonised the national agendas will get closer, since they will relate more and more to harmonised issues. Just look at the example of Anglo French relations. A few decades ago we were always at loggerheads, agreed...

    Leaving the EU

Sorry Dave, I have to question this. Germany has long been the largest steel producer in the EU and is the world's seventh largest producer. The Chinese dumping is also a major threat to them. If they really were calling the shots the EU protections would surely cover steel.

    Leaving the EU

I know exactly why I'm voting to stay in. For me the whole issue of EU membership comes down to one simple question, "does the end justify the means?" The end which so many fear is one of union into a country called Europe. I believe that is a desirable and sensible objective in the world...

    Leaving the EU

How I wish all the anti EU arguments were as sensible and rational as yours, many could learn from you. Today we've thankfully also gained another entirely rational and honest argument for leaving. Although I disagree with much of what you and Michael Grove are saying, his 1500 word statement...

And in Chinese electronics production all colour choices seem to be optional. It seems at times that they think the colours are purely for decoration. .

    Leaving the EU

I'm not so confident about that. Iran if anything will increase it's production despite the low prices, since they politically need the income to improve the lot of their citizens after the long period of sanctions. And there is the real threat of further recession in many countries, meaning a...

Is £800 enough money to spend on an everyday ride to work bike.

I don't have this problem, despite living in a London Borough. I've just organised my life and its destinations to where parking is always available, almost always free. I've found that surprisingly easy to do over the last twenty plus years. I still see people struggling to find parking...

Indeed, a repeat of the Scottish referendum tactics. However, I see more facts coming from the pro EU side and far more emotion from the anti EU side. .

    Leaving the EU

It's my opinion based on the statements of so many showing very incomplete knowledge of the issues. As I'm sure you appreciate, it's too vast and complex a subject for any one person to have an entire knowledge of what is involved. It appears to me that most don't even make an effort...
