    UK/EU E-Bike law - and associated confusion, a UK manufacturer’s perspective

Back in 2006, we in the UK (and I presume the USA) got the meter with a side switch for either pedelec with power delivered via the throttle or throttle control with or without pedalling. I was told the EU didn't have that second switched option, and that seems to fit your Cadence instance, but...

    UK/EU E-Bike law - and associated confusion, a UK manufacturer’s perspective

Yes, they have grandfather rights according to the DfT, and since the 2015 EAPC changes were not backdated, that is the law in effect. I say "in effect", since the prior EAPC regulation said nothing about how power must be applied, leaving that open to designers. They all used to be like that...

Squeezy bottle manufacturers haven't quite got it right yet

It's for those responsible to tell it. There is no relevance to what we have in this country in the way of squeezy bottles, or such luxuries as e-bikes. .

    UK/EU E-Bike law - and associated confusion, a UK manufacturer’s perspective

But that is not the law, the point I was making. Of course if the police are instructed accordingly, any risk of prosecution in the UK is removed at present, but there are two problems with that. The first is that if legality became a question in court, for example in respect of an insurance...

    UK/EU E-Bike law - and associated confusion, a UK manufacturer’s perspective

Thanks Dave. They made no public announcement on grace with the general announcement on the amendment which surprised me, but do you have a source for this grace period statement, when, where etc? .

    UK/EU E-Bike law - and associated confusion, a UK manufacturer’s perspective

If your current eZee models have a fully acting throttle while not pedalling, they have been illegal as bureaucracy free pedelecs since 6th April 2015. When that amendment to the EAPC regulations was introduced there was no public announcement of a period of grace for disposal of existing stock...

    UK/EU E-Bike law - and associated confusion, a UK manufacturer’s perspective

On a pedelec, which is what was being posted about above in answer to the OP, a fully acting throttle is illegal now and has been since 6th April 2015, so the law was changed. The prior EAPC regulations have no relevance now in this respect, so it is you who is being misleading. The type...

The BPM which is a front hub motor and it's rear wheel equivalent the BPM-CST (accepts a standard cassette) are two of the most powerful and torquey. Both bought from China. Another equivalent is the eZee motor which can be bought in kit form from Cyclezee in the UK. .

Getting older and madder by the day!

Yes you can now David, as of 6th April 2015. It can be bureaucracy free if you use a motor certified as 250 Watts or less and use a torque or pedelec sensor for control, fully acting throttles are no longer allowed. There is no weight limit now, so it doesn't have to be made with PVC pipe. If...

Store the bottle upside down, cap downwards, that will keep the content at the outlet liquid. If stored the other way with cap at the top, the small amount of air above the content can dry and thicken the portion stuck to the outlet, acting like a glue. Release when it comes then under higher...

Probably an attempt to alleviate the discomfort that the straight line of the frame from rear wheel to headstock causes. The rigidity of alloy frames has a real discomfort factor compared to the old steel ones. That frame style makes matters worse, the traditional frame with more horizontal...

First Electric Planes Fly Over English Channel

They aren't scared of that little outfit, they just wanted the publicity value of being first. They've got two real commercial objectives and being first would have had long term publicity value. Airbus will succeed in this field and as they do over time, will absorb the European competition in...
