I know what you mean, but this one is different, it only has one mode, the rocker switch on the side of the old style LED battery gauge only operates the lights.
Yes, that was the EU version too.

I pitty the poor sods who just want to get on and build simple, low powered electric cycles.

It's the first one I have seen like that and I have seen quite a lot:confused:
Back in 2006, we in the UK (and I presume the USA) got the meter with a side switch for either pedelec with power delivered via the throttle or throttle control with or without pedalling. I was told the EU didn't have that second switched option, and that seems to fit your Cadence instance, but perhaps the EU ones were in some way different from either?
