    Fast Legal Bike

Answer from a one time truck mechanic. The height is due to a fair extent to the engine being within the cab structure and under the driver, this in turn being desirable on restrictive roads to retain the maximum length for cargo. They are described as forward control cabs. In any case the...

    Hello, I'm new

The French are brilliant when it comes to chainwheel choice. When I wanted a 60 tooth chainring for a specific BCD it had to be a French one. .

Maybe not the result we all wanted, but still good

Given the widespread driver animosity towards cyclists in this car obsessed country, they may even get a compensating surge in new business! After all, car drivers outnumber cyclists about 10 to 1 in the UK, and from an economic standpoint may well be more likely to be householders with gardens. .

Do you know how to ride the electric unicycle?

It's not legal on pavements since only legal pedestrian controlled powered vehicles or 4 mph speed restricted mobility vehicles are allowed there. Cycle tracks and Bridleways have at least the same restrictions. Other than mobility vehicles, most parks have regulations or bye-laws forbidding...

    Fast Legal Bike

Indeed, and to make things worse, low cars which were previously designed with pride in their having a low CD factor have increasingly been replaced with much higher cars due to consumer preference for coping with other high traffic. The problem is trucks of course, making them much lower...

I tend to think so too, hence my jokey reference to the possible illegality. The problem appears when the change is under the control of the rider while using the machine just by use of buttons, and that appears to possibly match the DfT objection. Once again, only they, their lawyers or a...

Thanks for the clarification Warrah, and I fully agree with your sentiment and understand your being upset. There is never any need to be offensive in a forum in the manner of the post you referred to, and i was pleased to see that another member quickly asked the offender to remove that post. .

    Fast Legal Bike

With the exception of one error I've read it in that way Tony, but with my emphasis that only the first mentioned 250 watt 25 kph machines are legal electric assist bicycles not classed as motor vehicles. All L1e vehicles are of course classified as mopeds and the L1e-A (S class) are the old...

    Fast Legal Bike

Warrah, Don't misunderstand all the posts on legalities as being criticisms of your achievement. I share the praise for what you've created and welcomed your post since it's only the second time I've known of anyone getting a high speed bike though the moped requirements to make it street...

Giant Revive "Spirit" Mid Drive Chain Adjustment

Well done on sorting that out Noel. As you may have seen on my website about Diagnosing drive slippage, there are so many possible reasons for it on the Panasonic system e-bikes. .

Yes, as I thought Tony, those are still the old regulations but with some minor changes that I knew about, unregistered pedelecs are still only allowed up to 250 watts and 25 kph. The only real difference is in classification of the German S class as L1e-A, a moped class. It just makes type...

I'm perfectly at ease to chat with them, after all, they chat with me and are almost invariably friendly, unlike some human contributors. This link shows my attitude to them. .

    Electric Bike Security

Double locking as the minimum is necessary on a new e-bike, As suggested above, a solid and sound D lock plus either a strong cable or chain lock. The cable or chainlock also gives the opportunity to anchor a theft vulnerable wheel within the locking loop. Technically we shouldn't lock to...

    Price Rises on the way

I hope soTillson, but bearing in mind the nasty habit we have of our number of pounds for an item being the same as the number of dollars for it in the US of A, I'm not confident that will be the case. .

    Caraok electric one wheel bicycle

In the Engish word "bicycle", Bi means two as in two wheels, and cycle in that word is generally understood to be propelled by pedals or similar. So your vehicle doesn't actually match either. It's more accurately a monowheel electric vehicle, "mono" meaning one. .
