    eZee Torq Mk1 Prototype

This eZee Torq prototype had a slightly different derailleur than the final production version, having a very high rider top gear at I think 132". The production one's top gear was a more reasonable 122" but still far higher than most e-bikes, as befitted this very fast model. On this...

    After Midnight

I don't think you are particularly, even the crooks sleep. The younger ones who commit this kind of offence are normally fast asleep in the early hours of the mornings and tend to be notoriously difficult to get out of bed. Here in London there have been reported attacks on cyclists for theft...

    Ball Bearing Sizes.

Probably all Imperial still, it dominates bicycles in things like wheel, tyre and chain dimensions and pitch, so the Chinese producing bicycle parts will be familiar with it. Even many things often expressed as metric like handlebars are actually just metric conversions of Imperial, 25.4mm...

Ther is no legal way an S class e-bike as supplied can be registered Dave, that is an absolute at the present There is no UK type approval for these so the only option is to take one through single vehicle approval by the Vehicle Inspectorate. They can only approve to the current permissible...

Raleigh scoops KOGA sales rights in the UK

I think you dropped me in by name when you quoted my comment on not being apathetic and said you disagreed. However, I accept that you did not mean me originally. On the point of apathy, I can't see posting many posts about the legal scene making any difference, since what afflicts the forum...

Speed Pedelecs registration BS or Believable

I don't know the exact position in The Netherlands yet, but I've been informed that the changes in their law do not amount to the German S class, rather just an easement of some sort for the low powered moped class rather than e-bikes, allowing them more access to cycling facilities. That class...

Raleigh scoops KOGA sales rights in the UK

I've been making the effort since 2008, what else can the average of 11 posts a day seven days a week and a total of nearly 28,000 posts mean? No one else has made remotely that much effort and I greatly resent being accused of apathy in these circumstances. How much longer do you expect me to...

Some Random Thoughts On bicycle Design.

While there's truth in this, other types of bikes than the UCI ideal are supported, but all the evidence is that there is little demand. That support comes from the International HPVA and their national authorities who hold races and other events. The HPVA (Human Powered Vehicle Association)...

Raleigh scoops KOGA sales rights in the UK

Well said and very true! I was the first outside member to join this forum in Autumn 2006 when it started and helped in bringing in the early members through links and an introductory article in my own e-bike websites. I think all those original earliest members except me have disappeared now...

Speed Pedelecs registration BS or Believable

This method is permissible anywhere in the EU, but it's subject to each country passing the necessary regulations to permit the use. Those local regulations concern such things as insurance and the necessary registration, plus any other safety factor thought necessary such as helmet use...

Some Random Thoughts On bicycle Design.

A lot of bike parts do now Neptune. That last hub I bought long ago had those bearings, and the simple cup and cone ball bearings have long been on their way out. The one place that hangs on to all the old bicycle technology is India, since they still have many local manufacturers who have no...

Nexus 3 hub with Shimano roller brake

That's correct, they can dangerously lock up if dry and can also squeal horrendously. They are designed to work with grease on all parts, including the braking surfaces. The braking action is due to the self-servo pincer action and not simple friction. .

Nexus 3 hub with Shimano roller brake

No, I didn't say that, I said the opposite. That's why Shimano pack them with grease from ne and sell the top-up grease as I posted above. That said, it doesn't appear to need any more at present. .

These hub gears do have to be greased to operate properly. Below are the Shimano grease packings with the part order numbers. 10 grams is sufficient for personal use: Shimano Roller brake grease 10 gms Y-041 40020 100 gms Y-041 20400 .

Easiest way find percentage of a hill?

That's more accurate then you probably thought, I'm often undressed between bedroom and bathroom, and there's remotes in both. I really wouldn't want to carry around a smartphone all the time, it looks rather like obsessional behaviour the way some do that. I might be naked without clothes...
