I wouldn't say the Cyclamatic Power Plus is better then the Powabyke X Byke, it's only a 24 volt system against the X-byke's 36 volts, and won't perform at the speeds your X-byke seems to. d8veh knows plenty about the Power Plus though, having owned and modified them. .

I knew you'd post that when I typed the word luck! :D The carp would disagree. ;) .

No I don't, just wondered what luck you'd had on a wet day, obviously good with a carp like that. .

Yes. Here's one, the Giant Lafree having a Panasonic crank unit to which the owner has added a Heinzmann front hub motor. He could have switched the Lafree battery to supply either one or other, but in this case he's been cheeky and added a tiny petrol generator on the carrier. I think a...

Not usually broken, just not working until dried out. However, that can take a long time once water gets into an almost closed space like a controller box or twistgrip throttle housing, and water getting into wiring connectors can cause corrosion. Not a big headache though, most modern e-bikes...

    battery life

In the interests of long life, the lower voltage cut-off on e-bikes is set at a level safely above fully discharged. The lowest limit practical limit is circa 2.7 volts per cell, but e-bike cut-offs are usually set at 3.1 to 3.2 volts per cell, leaving at least 25% of available charge in each...

Pannier Question for Woosh Big Bear Owners

The Dutch make some good quality linked throwover panniers, below is a large pair I use on my e-bikes. Look up "Dutch Bike Company" in Google or similar to see the variety of Dutch bike dealers who can supply them:

New Electric Bike World Record Set!

This isn't about the UK or the EU law though, since the record was set in the Isle of Man which is in neither administration. There the laws are set by The Tynwald, the world's oldest continuously sitting parliament. They allow considerable latitude for road racing events and record attempts...

Not always, throttles and some other handlebar units can be vulnerable, and also poorly sealed connectors. The way a cable feeds into a hub motor or controller box can also be a problem if it's approach is from the top, draining rain water into where it's not wanted. .

A 36 volt 20Ah battery is a bit on the heavy side for carrier mounting, something you'll notice most when of the bike and wheeling it etc, but it can affect the handling under way as well. You should get far more than 30 miles from that. The ebay X byke is likely to be a restricted one, so...

The licencing of the Raleigh name increasingly seems to be an open to anyone affair! Just in... New Raleigh Electric Bikes with Shimano STEPS Mid Drive System

Thanks for the link Croxden, interesting how it shows the market differences since they think it's Raleigh's first e-bike. Here we've had the Raleigh gmbh bikes from Germany's Derby Cycles company which were near Kalkhoff clones, and of course the Powabyke X6 and X24 models were a joint venture...

I think it's very good buy at that price. There's nothing wrong with it at all now, the disadvantages being historic and not affecting your one, apart from your small battery. In all other respects it's a good bike which many like, and the derestriction is an advantage. It's the only time of...

Giant Electric Twist 2012 Charging problem

That's one of Giant's pannier batteries, used singly or in pairs on all the Twist models from late 2007 on. The prices have never been competitive, £300 each in 2007. If you use another battery instead it will need it's charge socket changed if necessary to match your charger plug. It looks...

I'm afraid I don't know the connectors on your bike Kevin, but you can certainly use another battery instead. Maplin have a range of XLR connectors on this link if that's the type. .
