E-bike with motors greater than 250w, speeds above 15mph and the UK police

Having read through the last two pages of comments I think it may be worth repeating what I said back on page 4, and which has effectively ( and indirectly ) been supported by all the regular contributors to the forum. Upon refection there is one situation in which you would need more power...

E-bike with motors greater than 250w, speeds above 15mph and the UK police

Getting back to the subject of the opening post of this thread... As the owner of an S-pedelec I find it hard to understand why you would want a bike with 1500W of power in order to ride it as you say you want to. The S Pedelec would give you all the power you could need to ride like that, and...

This link also suggests it should be OK. http://www.sheldonbrown.com/speeds.html

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

Scott, thank you very much for these answers to the issues raised. I welcome the opportunity to have a FOC software update - however with a 240 mile return trip to the nearest 50 cycles showroom it is still an expensive and time consuming effort. If I had been aware of this last year when I did...

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

As the purchaser of two Kalkhoff bikes with Impulse 2 motors I have been very concerned by the description of numerous motor failures on this and other threads. We have had no problems with our motors, but I have lost confidence due to the reports here and the lack of rebuttal from 50 cycles. I...

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

That is very interesting hopbackguy, do keep us informed of progress, I might try and do the same for our two bikes.

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

I guess part of your consideration should be how many miles you are likely to clock up on your new bike Brownster74. My wife and I both have bikes with the Impulse 2 motor and have not had any problems with the motors - but neither of us has yet done more than 1000 miles on the bike for various...

pedelecmonitor - mileage and repairs statistics

My problem with the site is understanding it! Its clearly written in German and auto translated to English. This leaves sentences that make no sense in English. For example " How many kilometers will my mid-engine vauraussichtlich and there are problems with this system?" Now I can separately...

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

It does make a difference where you buy it from if you have to take it back and the other dealer is 150 miles nearer! My reason for posting this was wondering if I could take a bike purchased from 50 cycles back to another dealer and expect attention under warranty.

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

I have been under the impression that 50 cycles were THE UK agent for Kalkhoff, but I see other retailers offering their bikes. http://www.chestereroads.co.uk/kalkhoff-ebikes.html Does anyone know how that fits on with 50 Cycles? I alos know of Blazing saddles but they clearly state they work...

250 watt is it a myth?

Right, I have uploaded a ride from Garmin Connect and marked it accordingly now. Thanks again https://www.strava.com/activities/782399220

250 watt is it a myth?

Excellent, thank you, I haven't seen that option before - maybe its newish. Wish I hadn't deleted those rides now - maybe I still have them on Garmin Connect and can restore them.

250 watt is it a myth?

What I don't understand though is what you do when you ride over a segment which is not one of your own? Is there some way of marking a ride so it doesn't show up on all the segments you ride over? I've given up putting GPS records of ebike rides there - I just put the time and distance so its...

250 watt is it a myth?

I'm surprised your ride hasn't been reported by the Strava mafia! They are on to me within minutes if I post any electric bike times there - ie significantly faster than my usual attempts! Although looking again I notice these segments have only been ridden by a couple of people.

    kalkhoff parts

The main UK dealer for Kalkhoff is 50 Cycles - who get a lot of criticism on here, but in my experience are not too bad - have you tried them?

Lowering handlebars on Kalkhoff Pro Connect 9

Thanks for posting this, my wife has just had a bike fit for her Kalkhoff which resulted in a much better riding position, but the fitter could not find a way of mounting the computer. Looks like you have the answer.

    Looking at kalkhoff bikes

Everyone naturally wants to know what the range is - but there is no answer! It depends on your style of riding, your weight, your frontal area, how hilly the area is where you cycle, how much power you use. I have done 75 miles on mine and had power left, but I have also done 25 miles and...

    Kalkhoff Agatu for sale 46cm

My wife's 2008 Kalkhoff is up for sale on ebay ( not the one in my auto signature below) . Little used and in excellent condition, battery appears to be in good nick considering its age. Full details here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331824228172?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

Kalkhoff Endeavour S11 Premium, how to register

In case you are still in doubt Blackgold then I also am sure that these bikes cannot be legally used in the UK in any area to which the public have access. I also feel that 50 cycles should make this much clearer on their website. On the other hand there are lots of other things that are...

A little girl lucky to be alive.....

Tom, I don't disagree with what you say - but - I note that this made it onto the national news, whereas few if any of the 30 cases of children killed on pavements by cars ever do. Some car drivers are quick to complain about cyclists on pavements, crossing red lights etc, but think that...
