Velospeeder - any experience - Brompton in particular

https://www.velogical-engineering.com/fahrraeder/brompton-tuning/?lang=en Looking at it as a potential lightweight conversion for a Brompton. I should be able to get the non-electric Brompton down to circa 9Kg. Not seen many reports on this Velospeeder, the two friction drive motors mounted to...

    Uncased eBike batteries, 36V 5Ahr to 10Ahr

Is there a recommended UK supplier of the uncased type eBike battery, i.e just covered in heat shrink, 36V 5Ahr to 10Ahr ? Plenty of suppliers out in the far East but the capacities quoted are just plain silly, you can apparently get a 36V 20Ahr for £40 ! So a supplier that can be trusted is...

    Legal Pitfalls

The current eBike\Pedalec rules are easily manageable for those that choose to be law abiding. What is wrong with the system, as with many other regulations, is that there is no apparent interest in enforcing the regulations. The UK in particular has become a society when observance of large...

Pedestrian causing cyclist death gets 3 years prison

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cambridgeshire-64835197 Det Sgt Dollard, who interviewed Grey, told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I'll always remember the morning after it occurred obtaining the CCTV and watching it in its entirety. Pedestrian causing cyclist death gets 3 years prison

This was a jury trial in the Crown court, so presumably the defence had the opertunity to present evidence, medical reports etc. Interesting how, based on a few comments on web sites, social media etc, some people can appear to form a strong view that this is a misscarriage of justice in some...

Pedestrian causing cyclist death gets 3 years prison

Whilst this is a tragic case, its just plain wrong that a pedestrian should be so abusive, both physically and verbally, to a cyclist that was entitled to be there. If someone did that to me, I can fully understand that I could be put off ballance trying to avoid the assault. Would anyone...

Pedestrian causing cyclist death gets 3 years prison

So, if someone just 'contributes' to the death of another, what should the penalty be ? If the pedestrian had not shouted abuse, gesticulated in obvious anger etc towards the cyclist, forcing the cyclist to try and avoid the pedestrian, there would very likley not have been a fatality.

Pedestrian causing cyclist death gets 3 years prison

I did see that. I get the impression that a lot of pedestrians are not aware of the concept of 'shared pavements' but that might just be me. There is a video here, could be distressing; https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cambridgeshire-64824436

Surely it requires some effort to move the pedals ? OK, so its a very small effort, but thats not the same as no effort.

E-scooters 'are five times safer than bikes' - Study by The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents

When I am out and about, I do see the majority of cyclists riding responsibly and mostly wearing helmets. EScooter riders, on the road and pavement are the opposite, most dont ride responsibly, they are too fast, playing dodgems etc and rarely wearing helmets. On good condition, very flat...

Changing from hub motor to mid drive

Most of the hub motors I have seen, including the 3 I have bought, have a short cable coming out of the hub which plugs into the extension cable going to the controller. Removing a wheel with a hub motor is easy enough, I just unplug the cable by the motor.
