"Brompton weighs in on better battery laws to clamp down on eBike fires "

10 minute bills rarely make their way into law without government backing. Similar to that proposal to add penalty points to number plate offences from a few years ago. The media still newly posts as if this is coming soon despite it failing to make a second reading in 2021. Vehicle Registration...

    Another Sur-ron accident.

There's one near me that often filters past me in my car. Has a full size motorcycle reg plate and he rides sensibly.

He reminds me of most blokes I've worked with on building sites. Endless boasts about how good they are at racing/fighting/shagging/drinking and perhaps flouting the law, but if you politely disregard that, they are extremely knowledgeable about their trade. I'd have a beer with him.

It's the same mounting process as a 250w kit. Just needs torque arms to work reliably.

    Ebike batteries

I too am concerned by dictatorships seeking global domination. My ebike battery could initiate thermal runaway were my house to receive a direct hit from an ICBM.

    Ebike batteries

Cells would need to be punctured or crushed (i.e. split open). So perfectly landing on something very pointy with a huge amount of force to not deflect off, or landing in a hydraulic press. Bouncing down the road and being run over by a truck wouldn't be enough force I don't think but I sure...

Are motor cut-off brakes legally required?

Only true when the bike is stationary/accelerating. When braking, most if not all (a stoppie) weight is on the front wheel. Put your best braking system on the front if you have to choose.

    First attempt ebike conversion

As above, a geared "250w rated" hub motor is what you want. 48v battery and controller, a good amount of amps on both but research on how much current you can put through the motor before gears melt and strip (not a problem for direct drives). Does this have plastic gears? How much sustained...

    First attempt ebike conversion

To me, a motorbike would suit you better. Getting a motorbike license is extremely fun and riding the thing is so much more exhilarating than an ebike. I have ridden a 1500w throttle ebike and it's a novelty going 30mph on a bicycle but its not as fun as being the fastest thing on the road. It's...

Confused and looking for 48v 250w rear hub since Yose won't sell me 250w 36v kit with 15ah battery

Assuming your battery is this one: E-Bike Battery Samsung Electric Bike Battery 36V 20AH | Greenlance Limited | Greenlance Limited Set it all the way up to 18A. It has 20A BMS which you won't exceed.

The advice is install at least one cut off sensor if you use a throttle. Throttles are very prone to shorting out when wet which will tell the controller to use maximum power. A brake cut off is a safety measure to stop the bike flying away from you (it can happen when you're not fully on the...

Is the motor engraved with a rating on these? You won't regret having the extra watts. I wouldn't worry about the motor windings unless you intend to pull heavy loads uphill. Worst case with a 48V is you use more battery when going slowly uphill because it's out of it's efficiency speed but...

Hello, looking for a commuter bike

Boots and overtrousers are caked in muddy water this morning. Maybe I need better mudguards. Unfortunately, I've used the mounting holes by the rear dropouts for my torque arms.

Hi - I have a few questions about what to choose?

Does your DWG22C kit come with a CoC? I was under the impression DIY bikes don't need this as there's nothing stopping you building your own motor using a stator and a casing and then labelling the bike correctly. The one thing I agree with goral lol.
