    Green recharging

Testing the Inverter Hi Chris, I wonder how you propose to test the inverter if you don't have a scope? I have just made some tests on my inverter to maybe produce some benchmark data, as follows;- I powered up the inverter with and without a 60 watt incandescent light bulb, and put a...

    Green recharging

Oops a daisy Hi Chris, Sorry to read your charger has failed  will be very interested in what failed in your switched mode charger or inverter to cause it to give up the ghost. As you did advise me it would be in order to use a modified square wave inverter to charge the bike battery...

    My Dilemma......

Daring or watt ? Hi Oldsoc, I expect you tried connecting one load at a time, until all loads are connected ? if so, it must be the initial current inrush exceeding the stated surge capacity of probably 600 watts, on a 300 watt continuous rated inverter. Or maybe - one of the load...

    My Dilemma......

Two into one Should be okay Eddie. I know you have wired it directly to the leisure battery via a very large fuse, and that's good. The worst it can do is to take either the very large fuse you've wired into the 12 volt supply to the inverter, or the fuse in the inverter, both easily...

    My Dilemma......

Isn't it modified square wave ? An earlier post I asked for advice on using the supplied ebike battery charger with a cheaper inverter. Someone gave me a really good run down on switched mode chargers when used with a modified square wave inverter, and claimed that the combination would...

    My Dilemma......

Battery Charger and Inverter Hi Eddie, You can charge the battery as you travel, but you will need to travel from Le Touquet Air d' service Nautique to Dijon on the way to Italy, about 5 to 6 hours travel to charge your bike battery  I use a recently purchased Maplins £19 300...

    Help needed to choose bike

Whoops Hi Herbie, My advice is to purchase from a local supplier, just in case you have a problem that requires a RTB for a warranty repair. It can become costly and almost impossible to re-pack a bike sufficiently well enough to survive a couriers tender touch. Regards Terry

    Panasonic Motor - Wateroproof?

Battery out Water in The new PowaCycle Windsor also uses blade connectors on bottom of battery carrier box with a clear view of the controller and connections, when the battery is removed, it's all open to water ingress. I suppose the good news, if you can call it that, is the plastic...

    Electric Bike Security

Trying to thief proof Mr Moon said "Is there much evidence to suggest that alarms deter thieves more than having 2 sturdy and different locks?" I say - only if fitted to a large concrete block :D Hi Moon, It's like trying to concentrate on something when the wife won't stop talking :D ...

    Electric Bike Security

Another way Some of these sold secure locks are so expensive £59 plus - I just wouldn't feel safe leaving them outside the shop - although most are small enough to take into the shop with you. I am going to get in trouble for saying this - I know, but I feel a bit of a devil :o , one could...

    Watt difference does it make?

Hi Rod, I really do recommend that you try before you buy, perhaps I am expecting too much for my money from these ebikes, I mean you are talking to someone who still moans at paying more than 1/3d for a pint of IPA :) I was pleased with the performance of the Lynx LPX, it would go up to...

    Electric Bike Security

It's got a key I did look at that one Burncycle, but it's got a key - I have to use three different keys for the locks I have at the moment, its a pity you can't buy three locks using the same key - perhaps someone knows if it's marketed. By the time I have locked it all up - I've forgotten...

    Watt difference does it make?

PowerCycle Windsor LPX Did 9 miles today on a full battery charge 29.2 volts, the battery indicator on top of the battery showed half full, and I was feeling half empty :) The voltage reading at this point was 26.2 volts and the lack of power assistance was noticeable. Regards Terry

    Watt difference does it make?

New PowaCycle Windsor LPX Hi Rod, Took delivery of the above just yesterday, swopped it in at no extra cost for a Lynx LPX which went u/s after a month, it could not be fixed because my retailer couldn't get the spares from PowaCycle. The Windsor ebike drives through the hub in the centre of...

    Electric Bike Security

Cheap but effective Alarm I just bought the alarm picture below second-hand for £3 and given it a good test. When used in conjunction with locks etc.. is just another thief deterrent. I am so pleased with it, I am going to purchase another 10 from China for the grandchildren, at £5.58 each...

    Two-way communication system??

It does exist Jeanette, I bought the BINATONE TERRAIN 550 Two Way Radio from Currys but there are many on he market with VOX, these were on offer for £29 a little while ago, and they switch themselves between receiving and transmitting as you speak and as you listen. The system these PMR...

Recovering from injuries: How to cope with non-cycling?

Sympathy for Pops I really do sympathise - but my old drill sergeant use to say – You ‘orrible airmen, march through the pain. It never worked – being pampered is the best remedy. Get better soon - Regards Terry

Cyclists flout the law to stay safe

Some are more equal than others I don’t see why two sets of laws won’t work, one for cyclist and one for everyone else. Parliamentarians in Westminster can use creative accounting when inventing their own expenses, whereas we face the sack or the judicial system when we do it.

Getting repairs / service for PowerCycle in uk ?

New PowaCycle Lynx LPX Repair Update My Lynx LPX has been off of the road now for nearly two weeks, waiting for some spare parts. PowaCycle have run out of replacement controllers for their Lynx LPX ebike. That sounds a bit ominous doesn’t it?, however they are willing to cannibalise another...
