10,000?

Met a guy the other day and commented on his bike, an Aprilla, I don't know the model of it. He said, to my surprise, he had done 10,000 mles on it mainly around the local roads; now I don't say he hadn't done this high mileage, but it did seem high given the condition the bike was in. It was almost pristine, ( he said he had recently cleaned it), there was not a scratch on it as far as I could see, even the paper ''adverts'' on the wheel rims were in place, it was almost in show room condition, a light grey and silver. He also claimed a top speed, with throttle only, of 25 mph, again a bit tall perhaps?
As I say, I'm not (exactly) disputing what he claimed, hard to disprove the high mileage anyway, but it did seem all a bit far fetched to me, would anyone like to discuss?

It is possible on some e-bikes, and having done some 6000 miles on a Lafree which I sold in very good shape there is some evidence, though the finish has to be good in the first instance.

However, the Aprilia was a very poor machine, all style and no substance, though it's finish was good. A to B magazine were scathing about it, this is a precis what they had to say

"Aprilia's Enjoy has been withdrawn, and we're not surprised. It looked the part, thanks to some wicked Italian styling and lots of techy bits, but it was inefficient, over-priced, poorly designed and generally a bit of an also-ran. And you needed a mortgage for a replacement battery..."

The 25 mph is very unlikely apart from downhill under power, 25 kph nearer the mark!
