if I only I had the readies Eddieo - this almosts represent my perfect bike which would be a a titanium framed, 29er hardtail with Alfine 11 and bosch drive (8ah before but since there is a 11ah avaiable I'll add it to the "if i win the lottery" wish list"*)

*albeit pointless as I don't play the lottery

Heading the right way, from a tiny battery to a small one! Meanwhile the various Panasonic and Kalkhoff power units now have up to 24 Ah, three times the size of the original Bosch battery and more bangs for the buck too. Still, I suppose 11 Ah is ok for wealthy Germans who can afford over £1000 for two batteries!

The 8Ah battery more then enough for most journeys it is an efficient 36 V system. Remember charger 4 amp. 100% in 2.5 hrs 80% 1.5 hrs. charge over lunch and back on you way...

Much better than that, you stand a chance on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday every week.

Like a number of people I don't need it, I just do it with surplus income just for the fun of the possibility. At my age I'd be giving nearly all of it away anyway!

Am I right in thinking this has a 400W motor ? !! I bet this guzzles battery power flat out ...

Problem is those trips with nowhere to recharge before return journey .. maybe a spare of the 8Ah battery this uses weighs less than the bigger ones (?), but having lugged a 36v 15Ah one from/back to my LBS workshop on Wednesday (along with the security chain/padlock), quickly realized a spare battery isn't something I'd want to have to carry about any more than absolutely necessary !

A little confusing but its watthours not watts that you are quoting ie 8Ah at 36V =288Ah

11Ah at 36V = 396Wh

From memory the batteries weigh 2.5 and 2.9 kg. for the 2 different sizes

Haibike have a good lineup for 2013 and most of the bikes are equipped with the 400Wh battery. I will gladly accept the extra 400 grams for 37% more capacity as I run with sticky tyres for maximum grip.

Anyone thinking of upgrading? I'm tempted to go for the new Haibike xDuro All Mountain with even more suspension travel.

To be honest after reading about Haibikes apparant abysmal support if you have a problem in this country (UK) I dont care how good they are I would not touch one with a barge pole.
