250 watt motor illegal!

I have just had this sent in an email! Any truth in it.

That looks like an underhand tactic by a supplier, who sent it?
That is what British law says but IIRC European law permits 250W and is perfectly legal.

Load of rubbish. I for one haven't heard of anyone being prosecuted for running a 250w motor. Only one I seem to recall is the Rickshaw guys in London, and they were over-powered, over-weight and zipping around using throttles.

Sounds like a deliberate attack on the manufacturers mentioned in the email to me.
