Is this enough continuious discharge to run a cyclone motor. Having a chat with a guy who will build me a 48v 20Ah battery for £285 inc shipping.
20amp BMS.

I know nothing of these things so, help would be appreciated.

Voltage: 48 Volts
Capacity: 20 Amp Hours
Weight: 14.50 kg ( 32 lbs)
Charging Voltage: 61 Volts
Charging Current: <5 Amps
Rated Discharging Amperage: ≤20 Amps
Max Discharging Amperage: 40 Amps
Max Discharging Current: 60 Amps
Discharging Cut-off Protection: 40 Amps
Lifecycle of the whole pack: >85% capacity after 1000 cycles.
Lifecycle of single cell: >85% capacity after 1500 cycles, >70% capacity after 3000 cycles. (<1C discharge rate and <1C charge rate)

Anything up to the 500 watt Cyclone, yes, assuming the stats given are reliable ones.

That is a big battery which should be enough for just about any bike motor and allow you to travel a considerable distance.

The spec. says a cut-off of 40A but you mention a BMS of 20A.

20A (at 48v) would be enough to get you to around 30mph with the correct gearing. Note that high speeds considerably reduce you range though.

I agree, Very Heavy, I think clockwork has a higher power to weight ratio.

Thats the problem, £285 from one guy vs over £400 from someone else. Ping does give discount if you buy direct instead of using ebay. His batteries are a fair bit lighter.

I am using what i gather is the 650w motor, so is this is still enough juice from the battery.

I have been checking out endless sphere to figure out how i can just keep the throttle open full time without the 30 second cutout. It would seem its in a too high gear. Big cog of the front and little cog on the back.
No idea how many gears the bike started with but it would seem thats the key to not make the controller or motor overheat and secondly to get better than 30% efficiency.

Buy on price if all things are equal, but I am not sure this the case with these batteries.

There are many respected manufacturers in the marketplace but I am not sure if your proposed supplier is one of them.

Not sure about V Power either.

Yes, the 650 watt motor should run ok on either the battery you suggested or the Ping battery suggested above.

Of course the downside of that 650 watt motor is the need for a very large battery to give a decent range and enough current delivery.

The Endless Sphere forum has reports of trouble with both V power and their suppliers.

I may be better off in the long run changing to a hub motor, i guess that way at least it may work a bit better.
What hub motor will provide a top speed of 30mph and a crusing speed of 20mph. Is there anything that reasonably priced? (so long as this is a better option)

A nine continent 2806 will do about that speed and is an efficient motor.
