36v 12ah battery what gauge wire ?

Hello need to extend my battery cable to connect to the controller it’s a 36v 12ah battery for a 250w motor what gauge please thanks

How much longer and controller current rating.
Generally 14awg up to 32a.

Hi, Don't know the gauge but I have successfully used low impedance speaker wire (which are a pretty thick pair of wires) for a metre or so extension with a similar size battery and motor. Peter

Yeah thanks my battery wires “look” 1.5mm but my controller “look” 2.5mm and I believe 2.5mm is equal to 14 awg just wanted to make sure

8a rated may mean 15/16a max current so go with 14awg, if one uses wire rating to small then it causes a current bottle neck as well as losing watts due to over heating.
15cm lengthening is nothing to worry about.
