5 year Bosch Battery Guarantee

Please see announcement about a new Bosch battery guarantee we are offering. Your are the first to hear this but more information will be published about this in the near future.


This offer entitles the original purchaser to a second Bosch battery (only 1 allowed per customer) at a discount of 25%. For 2013 models this equates to £434 for 400wh and £337 for 300wh. Actual prices may vary but the discount will remain the same. This offer is only open people who bought/buy a Bosch powered e bike directly through us (anyone who has bought a Bosch bike from is eligible for this offer). This offer does not affect the original battery warranty. Effectively you have a 25% warranty cover for years 3, 4 and 5 though you are able to choose to purchase an additional battery before the third year if you so wish. However this would mean you cannot purchase another battery in year 3, 4 or 5 at the discounted rate.

Sounded like a brilliant offer at first,but the more i read the less appealing it becomes,not so much a guarantee but just making less profit on replacement batteries,and even then with limitations applied.

Basically means you get about £140 off a replacement battery if your original one fails in yrs 3-5 and no saving if you take a 25% discount off a 2nd battery to use in yrs 1-2 and one of your batteries fails in yrs 3-5. Or in other words ball-park about the same saving as you'd get ordering a replacement / 2nd battery in from Europe.

I wouldn't call that a 5-year 'battery guarantee' at all ... incredibly misleading headline - but a nice sales pitch patter so anyone who doesn't read the small print thinks if they buy a Bosch bike the batteries are guaranteed for 5 years .

How about just saying it as it is .... something along the lines of

"25% off the cost of a spare or replacement battery at any time within 5 years of purchase with all new Bosch-equipped bikes purchased. Offer applies once per customer and is not transferable. ".

Most people could get their heads around that without reading it several times before feeling it all sounded too good to be true.

This thread should have appeared in the "Offers, promotion and discounts" section but then it probably wouldn't have been allowed in such a misleading/overly complicated form.

Fair enough on all counts. Will rename it. Had followed example of another company which offered 50% discount on battery and called 4 year guarantee but take on board all comments. Appreciate the feedback so thank you to all. Regarding limitations happy to look at. We were trying to offer something which meant people would have some reassurances over battery costs.

Perhaps something simpler 25% off the RRP for any Bosch battery bought for five years when you buy a bike from Electrifying Cycles (limited to one per customer).

Which presumably means you will be making a loss on any batteries you supply under the offer to your own customers.

Fine if the offer is an incentive to buy a new Bosch bike from you rather than another supplier.

You need to make it clear the offer is for new sales.

As mentioned warranty probably misleading but found someone else doing the same and calling it a guarantee. However that is why I wanted to test the water. I value other members opinions which is why I wanted feedback. Unlike some companies we always try and fair, I hate it when some companes slag off other products for no reason, I can appreciate other products even if we do not sell them. It is a case of a fine balance between good headlines and misleading. Probably pushed it a bit too far but that is why I wanted to post first, to hone scheme before it starts.

Not sure you could get a replacement battery for that price in Europe. We order direct from Magura so literally could not offer a better price. May be they can buy them cheaper than us form another source?

Finally I think there is an idea that dealers make big profits on selling batteries which is simply not true. Everyone wants the price to come down.

Chances are I will buy an extra battery at some point, although there's now no rush until the better weather next year.

You might have seen in another thread I am getting a dongle (hopefully), so the impact of that on power consumption may also have a bearing.
