It's not that uncommon for people to buy a bike then decide for whatever reason that they don't like it. However it doesn't inspire confidence, as they may have discovered a fault.

Some bikes seem to have this happen quite a lot. I was reading on another forum only the other day about a currently fashionable bike (not electric) that seems to have a particularly high number of 'for sale, nearly new, 100 miles only / used once' type ads cropping up at the moment. When that starts happening then it is a bit of a concern!

However, second hand e-bikes sold on ebay are commonly stated as "hardly used", "used on a few times", "only 50 miles" and the like.

I've waited in vain to see "heavily used", high mileage" or "somewhat neglected".

Integrity is not a strong part of the ebay sellers character it seems.

I may be wrong, but something doesn't smell right about this one:confused:
All Agattus I have seen have black mudguards, on this one they are silver?
Also the seller changed their ID on 06/07/09.........today, so they have a new ID with no feedback, positive or negative. Something to hide maybe.

Or, could it be a bargain?

I seem to remember a couple of buyers suffering broken mudguards on their Kalkhoffs, not certain which model but I think it was the Agattu, and I think 50cycles supplied them with new ones.

Maybe this buyer preferred to fit metal mudguards instead to avoid subsequent breakage.

P.S. You were one of those with broken mudguards! :) Link to post

That's right Flecc, I have had 2 replacement rear mudguards for my wave frame Agattu, both supplied by 50cycles. They were black SKS Chromoplastic, I see the silver ones on the eBay bike have an additional rear stay which would prevent the rear mudguard flexing so much that they can hit the tyre.

Very unlucky to break a mudguard after one ride though.

Fault, what fault?

OK I admit it. It's my bike. I got so fed up with the wretched thing, I just had to sell. It was one of the worst purchase decisions of my life. And that Flecc, he should know better than spreading maliscious lies about such an awful excuse for an e-bike. Expensive, over-reliable, precision built, joy-to-ride, life-changing German rubbish I say. I'm sticking to bargain bucket Mongolian imports in future.:D :D

In fact, if my wife were three foot taller I'd be seriously tempted to bid for her birthday! My mudguards are silver with two thin black stripes running down the centre, by the way.

Hi Musicbooks,

Can you explain what you found wrong with the bike? I'm rather puzzled by the statement "It was one of the worst purchase decisions of my life."

He's kidding. :D. He loves his Agattu on those Bath hills.

Interesting that yours has silver mudguards Tom, makes it seem these on the ebay bike might have been original.

Hi John,
Gotcha;)
As a vertically challenged Scotsman, I'd need a stannah to get me up onto a 57 cm Agattu.
