hi and thanks for any help given just got a used bike that needed a bit of work put on my chain and wheels all looked to be fine with minor ajustments

but to the problem when pedeling there is a creaking noise i have tightend up the nuts on the crank arms pedels spin ok but noise is there when pressure is applyed on both sides would like to look at the bottem bracket but looks to have a spline in the bracket with a locking nut opn the out side ( hope i described this right) sorry should say there is no movement/woble left or right when pressureis applyed to see if there is play in the bottem bracket

and help would be great as to what might be the problem

ps will be back at 8.40 as i got to pick my kids up on the bike now

If it's the bottom braket you will normally be able to feel play in the assemble by rocking the crank arms.
The bearings would grind, if it's just a squeck as you apply pressure it would normally mean that there is play between the axle and crank arms. If you can pull the crank arms of turn them through 90 degrees before refitting them and retighten, this puts any eccentric wear at a different angle and can cure the problem.
A trip to the local bike shop should put your mind at rest.

Hi

I always fine that oiling can work wonders with a sticky chain.

Thx
