Nope, they're not getting ridiculous. When I was ebike shopping last Jan, I asked in the Electric Transport Shop:
1) what is a mid range bike price
2) what is a top of the range bike price.
the answer to Q2 was...
hmmm the most expensive bike we do is about 8k - no hang on, this is the top of the range bike here:
you get a custom built titanium frame, made to your measurement, flown out to the factory in a private jet to see it being built, max speed of 50mph+, 24hour support anywhere in the world they will fly out an engineer to repair your bike, and it only costs 55k!
(wish I could find a link to it now - It was an ugly beast that looked like something out of Ghost Rider!)
