There's a number of these junk jump-starters like the Maplin one on the market, often from mail order outfits. Best widely available ones I've found to be the Clarke ones from Machine Mart, more expensive but good capacity long lasting batteries.

@Scimitar. These youtube videos [3 in all] are an interesting find. In video 3 he destroys half a dozen perfectly good batteries just to weigh the contents. He must have loads of spare money . As Frank points out, and as most of us probably know, not all SLA batteries are suitable for ebikes. The "gell cell" type as used in burglar alarms are not suitable for high current deep discharge work . So I would say that weight is a fair guide to what you are buying. I liked the test instrument that he uses to measure amp hour capacity, although you could probably get your batteries tested by your local Alarm Engineer . The test with the A123 cells was quite impressive, but I suspect the cars own battery was doing some of the work.
