I'm not swinging,i'm just interested in a system that seems impressive on their video and enables a light weight bike.why do you swing from one end of the spectrum to the other?
the add-e is a very interesting solution but it is unproven and will not transform your donor bike into an equivalent of a Bosch or a Kalkhoff. Just ask them how much torque it has.
Where do i get said front hub motor and how easy is it to fit?The e-bike market is a a mature market worth more than £1 billion a year with thousands of models to choose from. A competent lightweight front hub motor weighs only 1.9kg and costs $90, the add-e motor weighs 800 grs and costs $800. You pay $710 to save 1.1kgs.
There will always be room for something like the add-e but it does not have the same wide appeal of German e-bikes.
