Hi All

Its been a while so I hope everyone is well.

I just thought i'd give you some interesting news about my battery. I got my bikes in late May and used them until late July. I rotated two batteries and covered around 600 miles mostly monday to friday with charging immediately following use. The batteries have been kept indoors at room temperature. They were both fully charged following the last use. I picked one up today and put it on the charger and five lights appeared. They went out after ten minutes to indicate a full charge had been reached which shows very little discharge over the three months. I went out and did my regular 10 mile short loop and the first light went out on the handlebars at the same point on the route that it always did (between 7 and 7.5 mile).

I'm no battery expert but I am very impressed that there has been no deterioration.

Merry Christmas one and all

Paul

The current Panasonic battery is unique in that when not used for a while, it goes into a "sleep" mode in which it remains stable, a recharge bringing it out of the sleep state. That would account for your charge being retained.

In fact lithium-ion cells all have the ability to retain charge, but their internal management systems lose it over time. Panasonic seem to have cleverly worked out a way of overcoming this.

A Merry Christmas to you as well Paul, I hope it's an enjoyable holiday for you and yours.
