You know what they say

"Imitation is the highest form of flattery" :p

The joke is why would you pay over a £1000 on ebay to a complete unknown, when you could have a genuine warranted one for just a little bit (£150) more

Wisper Electric Bikes - high performance ebikes

Based on what I have seen on here I know which I would chose.

PS Order now for pre Christmas delivery!!! LMAO

People often put comparisons on the tag line of an ebay listing to generate hits under someone elses name. In this instance they have put 'sim to Wisper' so if anyone types 'wisper' it will bring up their ad. I am guessing if they put 'cheap Chinese electric bike' not many people would search it. It is against ebay policy and if someone reports them it will be removed.

I looks similar to me, the description is accurate. :D
However a 905 eco is the same price and looks the same spec. The slighlty lower battery capacity of the eco will be offset by a decent warranty.
The eBay seller hasn't sold anything yet so I wouldn't trust a large purchase through him, remember the PayPal guarantee is rubbish as well.

Hi Andrew, I have already complained to e bay and all though they did not respond to me the wording on the ad has been changed from "same as" to "similar to".

The good news is we have been in touch with the seller up in Newcastle and he have guaranteed to stop selling them after he has sold the couple he has left and start selling Wispers. As we did not have a dealer in Newcastle we are delighted.

All the best David

"When the previous owner of the bike split from her partner he took the battery/charger and luggage bag and she got the bike."

LOL, who got the better deal ? :p

This must have been from when EWC were fitting Tongxins. They no longer recommend or fit them,...
Oh, I didn't realize that (or maybe I forgot)

They still call it the "Nano" on their website though...which is slightly misleading, to say the least. Even the 24V Bafang is a different beast than the Tongxin (in terms of added weight, bulk, noise, and drag).

... favouring the rather inferior Bafang
:D

Oops I think I just hijacked this thread again... sorry
Damn, me too

what do you mean by ''inferior Bafang'' ??????????? these motors are great, they have a great performance and are reliable. Simply look, if Bafang 8Fun would be ****, David from Wisper wouldn't be using them in his bikes. Wisper wouldn't have such a great reputation as well for reliability. Other brands that use 8FUN also wouldn't use it if there was a constant problem with them. They also have a new models now which are even lighter so what I don't understand you Jerry here. To me Bafang 8FUN are one of the best hub motors ever produced.

There's no need to use language like that. Jerry was being tongue-in-cheek, see the wink smiley after the comment.

Andy_82,

No problem, its a running theme with Dan and I as we both have Bromptons one fitted with the Bafang and one with the Tongxin.

I should add that other suppliers like Cytronex also make good use of the Tongxin.

Andy_82, you missed the sarcasm ;)

That being said, there's an element of truth in the claim that the Bafang is "inferior", if we consider the extra weight, bulk, noise and drag compared to the Tongxin. It's all relative, and on a Brompton this set of criteria matters even more than on a full-size bicycle. I own both a Tongxin and a Bafang, you can visualize the differences here:

Cheers, Dan
