Are there any straight replacements for a Bafang SWX 250W front hub motor ?

Looking for something reliable (like the Bafang) but a bit beefier but would run off 36V

Take one 26" wheel off and put another on - hopefully with similar connectors but hopefully with a bit more grunt and 36V (front hub)

Pretty much any hub in a 26" wheel will fit. Sounds like a Bafang BPM would do the job, but there are other options.

As for connectors, that depends on what you have already, and what controller/battery you want to use.

Pictures would help.

Bafang BPM is the one that I was thinking of but I guess I would need to upgrade my controller to a higher amperage ? I bet the BPM takes a higher current

the BPM motor is quite happy to take on 20A-25A. It should be matched with a 9FET, 17A to 20A controller for best torque. You will need a battery capable of the same 17-20A continuous. If you install the BPM to the front wheel, make sure that the fork is strong enough, like steel fork or have thick jaws. Fit also a pair of torque arms and some knobbly tyre otherwise, it'll spin.

the BPM frightens me a little when I start a bit sharp on throttle . it may be superstition but the look of a big knobbly is more re-assuring.

Forgot to ask, is it really necessary to fit torque arms and how easy are they to fit ?

Can your battery give enough current? If not forget it.

If my battery could not give enough current, could I get away with a lower amperage controller ?

Whilst my battery is a new 36V 12Ah, I dont know what cells are in it or their quality

Much cheaper than a new set of forks.[/quote]

Thanks, I was having a look at them last night - just hope I've got fixing points for them

If you don't have a fixing point you can use hose clamps or 'P' Clips to link them to the forks.

Can't see hose clips being strong enough for the torque but I know NOTHING about torque arms :)
